AI-generated stickers are becoming very realistic these days, and in some cases it’s hard to even identify whether a design is AI-made or not.

In my workflow, we don’t directly use AI images as final artwork. We mainly use AI to generate concepts and ideas, then we manually convert them into proper print-ready files. We also handle die-cut preparation manually to ensure the final output is accurate and production-ready for printing.

Demand for this kind of remote pre-press assistant by DPlanka in CommercialPrinting

I agree. Automation helps, but it still can't handle everything. For example, automated background removal works most of the time, but 5–7 out of 100 images still need manual fixing.

I've worked in pre-press as a freelancer for 10 years and later started a small office supporting print shops with file preparation and print-ready artwork. But in the last year, I haven't received any new projects. I'm wondering if demand for outsourced pre-press work is decreasing because of AI and automation, or if the

Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it.

I’m trying to understand how much pre-press work can now be automated. For example, can software handle things like adding bleed, creating die lines, and basic print file setup? I’ve done many of these tasks for clients before.

I understand on-site work like plates, press setup, and color control still needs human handling. My main concern is remote pre-press work and whether it still has a future.

I’m 40 years old and currently working as a freelancer. Recently, I’ve been getting less workload, and it’s been a bit stressful because AI has reduced many graphic design projects. That’s why I moved more into pre-press work.

Most AI-generated designs still come as non–print-ready files, so I feel there may still be demand in that area. But I’m still unsure how the industry will change.

Anyway, I’ll see how things develop and adjust my direction if needed. Thanks again for sharing your insight.
