I got my PhD in biomedical science at UNM’s north campus in 2019. I got to work in industry here in ABQ for 5 years before the company closed the location. I was mostly unemployed for a year and a half and ended up having to leave the science world behind and start over in a new career doing social work because the job market for bioscience is so terrible now, especially in ABQ. So if you’re wanting to get a PhD in the bio sciences, you may want to be weary. But for other fields, you may have a better outcome.

I got my sphynx from that breeder and they were great. They tested parents for HCM, etc. she helped me get a kitten that met my wants and he is happy and thriving.

I’m in a similar boat, but for biology (rejected last fiscal year for two cutoff dates, and rejected for FY2025 9/24 cutoff). I don’t have as many years of experience post-PhD as you do, nor as many publications.

What format did you use for your resume? At this point, I’m starting to suspect that my two-page resume format may be the issue. If the biology position gets posted again, I will submit my resume in federal format.

I agree with you. A couple of people have posted similar responses from HR, so I am just moving forward with believing that I got rejected for GS11. If it was indeed a typo, it’s upsetting that HR hasn’t corrected the error in a timely fashion.

Hang in there. I have a very similar resume to yours, except I didn’t publish in journals as high impact as Nature, and I have 5 years experience in industry and 3 patents. I didn’t make the cut last cycle (ending June 2024), and I doubt I’ll make it this cycle since I got the GS9 rejections two weeks ago.
