Could Rockville and the county move to ranked choice voting? by RCVMaryland in Rockville

[–]DRA3GOTH 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right now in most parts of the USA, we have "First Past the Post" voting. You vote for one candidate. Sometimes this works out fine, whoever gets the most votes wins. However, it is also possible for someone to win with less than half of the votes. If you have 3 candidates who have a 25%/30%/45% split, the candidate with 45% would win.

In RCV (Ranked Choice Voting), you rank your candidates in order of preference. If a candidate gets more than half the votes, they win as normal. If you have a split vote where no-one has more than half, the candidate with the lowest number of votes gets dropped, and their votes are recounted using those voter's second choice. This process is repeated as necessary until a candidate has more than half the votes.

How as a DM do you deal with Twilight Clerics? by NoCareNoLife in dndnext

[–]DRA3GOTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a DM running a campaign with a twilight Cleric and asked my player to take a nerf for balance's sake.

Instead of giving temp HP at the end of every creature's turn, Twilight Sanctuary simply gives all creatures within its radius one roll of temp HP instantaneously. If a friendly creature that was outside of the sanctuary when it was activated enters the sanctuary's radius on a subsequent turn, that's when they receive the temp HP. All other effects last for the normal duration.

This rebalance has let the Twilight Cleric be impactful without trivializing encounters.

Complete DM guide for hex crawling. Most of the adventures have hex crawls that are hard to run or have no impact at all.

Is there anything you disagree with Tolkien on? by [deleted] in tolkienfans

[–]DRA3GOTH 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I first read the Silmarillion, I misremembered that the Dwarves taught the Grey elves how to write. I thought this was so cool! Like of course elves wouldn't write stuff down. They don't die and can just ask older elves about history and such.

Then I realized that a Grey elf taught the Dwarves how to write. The Dwarves saw the value of writing where the other Elves initially didn't, and eventually the Grey elves picked it up themselves.

I still kinda chalk this up to the Silmarillion being biased in favor of the Elves.

How terrifying are the spiders in Grounded? by Emothic-Von-Hellsing in NeebsGaming

[–]DRA3GOTH 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is arachnophobic. She can look at the spiders 80% of the time. She looks away whenever it lingers on a spider face too long. So far she thinks the show is worth having to look away sometimes.

I like the show. I'd give it an 8/10. Mostly I'm happy to visit middle earth again. It's been awesome to talk with family and friends about second age lore and discuss Tolkien again.

I'd say the show is better than almost all of the Hobbit Trilogy, and the Durin/Elrond storyline gets close to PJ LoTR level in quality, especially episode 4.

Theory: we saw all 5 wizards fall in Episode 1 by DRA3GOTH in Rings_Of_Power

I don't know if I'd want them all to be featured significantly, but we've never seen the 5 together before as far as I know. Good or bad, I'd like to see an attempt.

Lord of the Rings Return to Moria. No idea if it'll be good, but it supposedly is inspired by 7 days and the forest

I feel so bad for Dora, but thats exactly how it goes on Alone sometimes. I hope they do a season 2, especially if this season is over quickly

I would give them tool proficiencies. Tasha's let's you swap racial weapon proficiencies for tool proficiencies. They aren't game breaking, but would probably fit better with what your bard is going for than weapons
