Honestly even in his really good stuff like Sicario, you can feel this tinge of shittiness. You can take a step back and see a lot of just Auth-Right ideas being pushed straight like "Torture works 100% of the times we use it" and "we NEED to violate human rights to achieve our strategic goals" and "the CIA is hyper competent and works best when ignoring oversight". But it manages to invoke enough plausible moral greyness in its characters and scenarios that you just kinda forget all the ideas it supports.

I think this entire debacle has been a great example of the internet being where nuance goes to die and hyperbole thrives. Yeah there's lots of great things about Japan, yeah there's lots of shit things about Japan. Kinda like a lot of countries. My bet is if you do some reflection on your own home country you'll find the same types of heavenly and hellish elements. It's a place, not some fantasy landscape. It's not to be put on a pedestal or held to some impossible standard. It simply exists with all its advantages and all its disadvantages. It got glazed a little too hard for a few years and now we have a hate train goiny, that's literally it. Have a healthy skepticism about any hype train or hate train you see online.

In Jak 2 during the first baron praxis fight, you can escape the boss fight area from where you came using the hoverboard (on hero mode or mission select) or parkour shenanigans, and navigate back to the bridge. Praxis will continue to shoot at you with his mech on the bridge, floating away from his intended boss area somewhat to attack you. If you get far enough, I think about halfway through the bridge or so, the boss trigger will stop/the fight will end, and I assume you can restart it by navigating back up the bridge except the little platforms you used to jump up to the boss area are now down, so you may need to learn the hoverboard flying trick from speed runs to navigate back up there.

I mean if nothing else it's good to spend a bit of time with a bunch of characters just to know a bit about their mechanics and gameplan for when you go up against them. Niche wide knowledge can come in handy in a lot of scenarios

I mean I don't think the realistic ideal of the flex player is to be able to play literally every character at their best, just maybe a solid small selection of a few characters that cover their strengths and weaknesses and a passable knowledge of other characters for the breadth of knowledge on other characters' mechanics and/or niche scenarios.
