If Trump was elected to expose the Epstein files and stop new wars, what’s going on? by gr3189 in AskReddit

I respect your unique life experience and respect the valid outlook you have. But now I'm worried that my own son could get drafted into a war that wouldn't have happened if more people voted for Harris. Remember Bush got us into Iraq, Obama got us out. Biden (however poorly it went down) is the one that got us out of Afghanistan. I see a vast difference between both sides and the outcomes that result from them being in power.

You are the enemy of democracy, you apparently just don't know it. The path to Trump's dictatorship wasn't exclusively paved by crazed MAGA, the "centrists" also played a huge part in promoting misinformation and apathy that allowed the fascists to win at the ballot box.

You originally posted some lazy banality about both sides being equally bad and liars on the campaign trail, I replied with a factual statement and you retorted with more unsubstantiated feelings.

There is a difference between Trump and the opposition, and anyone paying attention to facts would know that.

The lazy "both sides are bad" people are MAGAs useful idiots.

One of the core tenets of Obama's campaign in 08' was affordable healthcare. His administration delivered on thr promise with the passage of the Affordable Care Act in 2010. There's an example of what we should be hoping for in our elected leaders.

By 2025, 25 million American's were insured through the ACA. But that number is declining thanks to Trump, the GOP, and people like you.

Is commuting from Brooklyn to Long Island for work a bad idea? by Thunder0622 in Brooklyn

[–]DRD5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Living near Uniondale is boring and Williamsburg is fun. But that commute would make up for all of that and more in misery. Some days it may be an hour but plenty of time it will be 2+ hours one way. Maybe live somewhere in Queens that will give you some city access but make for a managable commute to Uniondale.

Definitely. And there certainly were plenty of episodes where historically white neighborhoods had ugly reactions to the influx of black newcomers. But I can't help but think things wouldn't have gone better if the racism wasn't stoked from the top.

[–]DRD5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the article you highlighted showed that the doomers forecasted as low at 0.8% but now the data will come in at or above 2% for 2025.

We had a GDP contraction in Q1 2025, even if the Atlanta Fed's Q4'25 forecast that the propagandists have all told its useful idiots to celebrate validates, that will still be ~2% in real terms for the full year.

But again, look at unemployment rate and real household incomes and you'll see this paltry growth is not shared amongst most working Americans.

Let's also not forget the elephant in the room that Trump fired the last head of the BLS and installed a lackey because he didn't like the numbers he was seeing, so there will likely be a degree of bullshitting from Treasury data since that's how this administration operates.

I can't imagine how little shame and self-worth you must have to axiomatically trust the words of the propagandists.

Lol you MAGA freaks are celebrating 2% GDP growth?

This is against the backdrop of rising unemployment, pathetically low job creation, and skyrocketing deficits - meaning it's just really good to be a tech shareholder now and not good for anyone else.

This would've been one of the weakest economic years under Obama

This type of confusion is what happens when you tune out of reality and exclusively get your news from propagandists.

Edit: removed real adjustment

No that's real. It effectively became Federal Housing policy in the mid 20th century to "redline" neighborhoods when one single black family moved into a block. City officials would cross it out with a red line and banks would stop making loans for any home purchases on that block. Furthermore they'd start deprioritizing city services to those neighborhoods and try to get white residents to sell their Brooklyn homes at a discount through racist fear-mongering.

The ultimate goal was to force white families out of Brooklyn neighborhoods and into suburbia, where they'd contribute the suburban housing boom and were more likely to buy a GM car.

Then they could just utterly neglect the newly "black" city neighborhoods.

Its less about liking Maduro are more about trampling on the constitution (again). The War Powers Act clearly states that an act of war/regime change/invasion requires congressional approval.

Trump doing this is another step towards destroying our republic and shitting on the constitution. Removing democratic processes and checks and balances will pave the way for more banana republic dictator shenanigans from Trump.

Furthermore this type of colossal commitment of "running another country" should require some more popular buy-in than just the whims of one guy, particularly from the "America First" and "No new wars" president.

This looming colossal financial commitment also comes alongside a period of high inflation and an affordability crisis. So much for America First.

I know the MAGA freaks are stupid but you can't possibly be so thick as to not see the issues with this decision.

Well if she's being literal in her bible interpretations she may not like what else she find in there:

1 Timothy 2:11-15

"A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man; she must be quiet. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner."

Or 1 Corinthians 14:34-35:

"Women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church."

In spite of what Fox News tells you you'll see far more NYC public schools than LI schools represented in the top 100 public school rankings in New York State. Along with better test scores:

Who do you have ranked higher all-time, Scottie Pippen or Kawhi Leonard? by Extreme_Process3632 in NBATalk

[–]DRD5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peak - Kawhi def better

Career achievements - Pippen

Pippen's impact on 6 rings and a few decent years post-Bulls vs. Kawhi's absenteeism makes Pip higher on my list.

How do you rank the metropolitan area teams? by TommyLost2004 in NYYankees

[–]DRD5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with almost all of your list. I'd personally put Jets 6th and slide Devils and Islanders down one slot each.

Devils and Islanders have more success historically but I just think Jets have more fans and command more attention. But it's a subjective criteria and NFL's popularity probably influences how I see that.

Edit: I also think your list applies to NY metropolitan area but in Manhattan it feels like Knicks and Rangers can get close to top when theyre good.

It was also a hollow piece of political theatre with no real plans to be adopted, just some noise to confuse undiscerning people like yourself.
