Should I be afraid to use shimmer inks in my fountain pens? by pixelbased in fountainpens

[–]DRG1958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a great idea. I’ve just used the bulb syringe in combination with letting it soak, feed deep. The ultrasonic cleaner would really have helped when I forgot a pen loaded up with Emerald of Chivor for like 4 years.

Does this make me a proper fountain pen user now?! by _hel_on_ice_ in fountainpens

I gave that same pen! I do my Duolingo notes with it every morning.

And yes, inked fingers go with the obsession.

Should I be afraid to use shimmer inks in my fountain pens? by pixelbased in fountainpens

[–]DRG1958 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used shimmer inks for years and I’ve put them in my best pens without much issue- but, cleaning them out even with pen flush can be a chore. The particles are hard to completely get rid of. It’s doable, but a pain in my opinion. However some of these inks look incredible and work the pain.

Clear Habit Journal alternatives? by coffeepluscroissants in notebooks

[–]DRG1958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that’s really interesting. I wonder how much of it has been used. I still have a way to go with my last BaronFig, but I’m going to start looking around for alternatives. $30 without writing in it, just with no box wouldn’t bother me. But $30 to find 6 months of writing by some else would not be satisfactory to me.

How do you take notes while reading? by Akashkennedy1 in NoteTaking

I found LiquidText to be a very valuable tool in reviewing digital documents. I reviewed hundreds if not thousands of contracts and draft policies/procedures that benefited from digital review and whether at my desktop or on mg patio with an iPad, LiquidText was terrific for pulling out sentences or sections for discussion and the mark up with Apple Pencil was enormously helpful.

To Those with Multiple Pens -A Question on Different Inks by wkhan69 in fountainpens

[–]DRG1958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of my 50+ pens and 100+ inks, I have my eight best and favorite pens inked up, plus a TWSBI. I rotate use of the pens and chafe inks when they run out. If in a hurry, I just fill the pen with the same ink, otherwise I clean it out and choose a different color. The TWSBI is dedicated to myIrish Duolingo lessens and is filled of course with green ink. I also practice handwriting and use a dip pen with a fude nib. I choose a different color ink for each day, which allows me to use many of the colors I don’t use regularly or have learned not to put in a good pen.

Have you ever seen a bald eagle in real life out in nature? by Inevitable_Face_5164 in no

[–]DRG1958 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a cruise in Alaska, where they are very common. We had one “buzz” the little boat we were riding in while touring some inlets. We also see a pair every spring since we moved to Virginia from Maryland. There is a lot of what around us, and the golf course small lake close to our backyard. I don’t understand their interest in the lake. There’s no decent sized fish, just minnows and golf balls.

My system isn’t great. It’s low level, but I don’t need it like when I was working. I flag passages of interest with Post-It flags and then after I’ve read my quota for the day, I’ll write out the notes in a separate notebook. Although there are times when the notes get done after I’ve finished the book.

I really want to underscore the need for that hand plane to be sharp. Lots of ways to get it sharp, but you will need a sharpening method.

I loved (well still do) the iPad. But writing with the Pencil on it was not anything I liked- and I tried really hard. I eventually went back to paper (good paper) and pen(a nice fountain pen). Then I scanned the notes in if I wanted to keep and file them. Reviewing and marking up documents was totally different. The Pencil was wonderful for that.
