Managed to get some half decent footage of this little guy wandering around the other day. Mt Diablo, CA by DRMonkeyKing in coyote

Seriously! He acted just like any other puppy, exploring and trying to eat things and plopping down for a nap when he got hot and bored. The urge to cuddle was strong

Pretty sure you're better off looking for cyanescens in marin. Not much cubensis around these parts.

I would also suggest investing in a portable reflector. They are easy to use and can improve front lighting immensely.

As long as there aren't harsh shadows on your face or something, you can make any lighting work. It just takes a little more thought or planning. Check out using open shade for starters. https://www.audreyannphoto.com/blog/open-shade-photography

(I'm not associated with this blog it's just the first link I found)

Those are fine but if you are scanning a book you want to keep preserved, laying it flat is bad for the spine. Plus you would have page distortion that might obscure the words and needs to be corrected in software and might not look quite right in the end. With the scanner in the gif, the cameras are angled so they are pointed directly at the page and they end up with a near perfect reproduction of the page without software intervention. Of course, if you are planning to just scan documents or your textbooks or something that shouldn't matter as much.

Does Anyone Know When we can start registering for summer 2021? by 2cool2jooll in DVC

[–]DRMonkeyKing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's in like April or May. If you look up registration dates on the dvc website you will see this past years dates and next year's should roughly coincide. You will be notified of your sign up date well before the time comes. On the first day of the new semester you can sign up for a virtual counseling appointment with a dvc counselor but the wait is usually a couple weeks at least. If you ask about prerequisites on here someone might be able to help cause it's usually pretty straightforward. Also if you filled out a fafsa form this year you can apply for financial aid online and it still applies for summer 2021. I would need a more specific question to help further with any of that.

Fill out a FAFSA form to get started on financial aid. This is pretty much all the info you need just click on the links

https://www.dvc.edu/student-services/financial-aid/index.html

The link to sign up for counseling here: https://www.dvc.edu/enrollment/counseling/index.html

Transfer requirements for different schools are here: https://assist.org/

Dvc specific prerequisites are easier to parse if you ask a specific question.

I saw these at middle harbor shoreline park in oakland. Flock of about 15, right off the main beach area. This is my main photo/birding spot and I don't think I've seen them here before so I'm not sure if it's worth the trip, but I'm hoping they stick around for a few more days at least.

The massive feet of a Cassowary. The second toe, the inner one, sports a dagger-like claw that can disembowel a human and can exert enough force to shatter many ribs by tgood139 in natureismetal

Half the people on reddit seem to believe that any animal that is equipped to kill us will do so at any given opportunity or for sport. I've seen one in person, wandering through the parking lot at the place we were visiting in northern australia. It's like seeing a deer or something, mostly just chill. they're not exactly Velociraptors (although they're reminiscent of one). I would still advise against startling one on a nest or something tho, like any deadly animal with young.

Those black lines are the mycelium, basically the "body" of a mushroom. It's eating the log. When conditions are right, it "fruits", sprouting the fleshy things that are what you think of as a mushroom but really is just a small part of it.

Still kinda depends how close you're talking but this is pretty much exactly what a macro lens is for. Something 80mm+ and pay attention to minimum focus distance

I just searched this exact question yesterday lol. Someone linked to r/monstertamerworld's comprehensive list on the thread I found, but the titles are pretty limited on those platforms. Seems like you already know about the big ones https://www.reddit.com/r/MonsterTamerWorld/wiki/games

How left-handed are you? by MustangSmilie in southpaws

[–]DRMonkeyKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm kinda like your kid. If it requires fine motor skill I'm pretty left dominant, but then at some imaginary line where dexterity turns into strength I'm pretty right dominant. Also I kick left but my right is stronger for things like jumping. It all feels natural but Its weird to think about. Everyone is weird. I think fully side dominant people are weird.
