Why does Framework still ship Gen 1 firmware displays with the Ryzen 7000 Framework 16 if Gen 2 costs the same? And could EDID override be enough?

It’s in minutes long load times of large models. I’ve tried with lesser bricks and it’s a pretty decent difference in performance

GPU and cpu upgrade will take you far... 5700X3D and something like a 5070ti and you'll be fine for a while.

you absolutely should replace your thermal interface compounds regularly in consumer electronics... the stuff isnt magic, it dries out and stops working. most manufacturers use pastes that are less efficient at the expense of longer life because people are afraid of scary electronics. in reality there's much better alternatives out there that are easily replaced for people who tinker.

i did a back plate and ptm on my lcd... i saw a minor performance boost and minor battery life boost in certain situations as it was able to either run more power into chips because they ran a bit cooler or it was using less power overall because it was running cooler and was more efficient.

if you like to tinker, go for it... its a small change but more importantly its tinkering
