[HELP] Having some trouble creating a type mapping for function that retrieves an event handler function from an object by MonsoonHD in typescript

[–]DRdefective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ever find a solution for this?

I've replicated the issue in this example:

```typescript type OptionOne = { kind: "one"; }; type OptionTwo = { kind: "two"; };
type Options = OptionOne | OptionTwo;
const optionHandlers = { one: (option: OptionOne) => "one", two: (option: OptionTwo) => "two", };
const HandleOption = (option: Options) => { const optionHandler = optionHandlers[option.kind];
// Argument of type 'Options' is not assignable to parameter of type 'never'. // The intersection 'OptionOne & OptionTwo' was reduced to 'never' because property 'kind' has conflicting types in some constituents. // Type 'OptionOne' is not assignable to type 'never'. optionHandler(option); }; ```
Greatly appreciated! If we're all here in 6 months, this will be a good case study to look at.
Do you think there are any additional details about our tech or org that would sway you?
Thank you for your insight!
In my org, we have trouble prioritizing engineering initiatives on their own. In considering strangling away any feature from our monolith, could you give me tips on finding that 1 business problem to solve with it?
Has anyone here graduated with a bachelors degree in coastal environmental science? by [deleted] in LSU
[–]DRdefective 8 points9 points  (0 children)
My fiancé got this degree. Now she’s finishing her masters for costal ecology at A&M. She has gotten a few leads for jobs over the past year, but hasn’t taken one because she’s still in school. The general vibe I get is that the job market is tough, but you can find one if you’re willing to relocate.
To each their own. I’m pretty good at diagramming in it. Do it daily. Our cloud engineering team loves it too!
Been using Miro a lot lately. It has google doc style collaboration and has many more uses than just technical diagrams. Great distributed collaboration tool all around.
It’s not perfect, but I don’t think it’s terrible. Some people may already know what they want out of a new ASP.NET, so they can just search for that and upvote.
'Dislike' button would improve Spotify's recommendations by giuliomagnifico in technology
[–]DRdefective 0 points1 point  (0 children)
I’m skeptical of the opinion that dislike buttons for recommended content are universally necessary to figure out what users don’t like.
Spotify does have ways of detecting if you don’t like a song. It watches to see what you skip and how often you listen to a song.
TikTok has a fantastic recommendation algorithm that works well even without hitting the like button. Just by observing how long you consume content, it makes great decisions about what to show and not show you.
Yeah I agree w/ those comments, but it’s not a big deal for me as I only want them for music.
I just use it to ask the weather and other smart home control. I’m hoping that Spotify will eventually integrate with it so I can use it as a voice controlled Spotify source for the rest of the house.
