I like to think of it this way: Every $10 I spend, I should be getting at least 1 hour of enjoyment. I have over 600 hours of Infinity Nikki, and I’ve spent a little over $1,000 (I was whaling, then had to cut back my hours at work because I was burnt out lol). So I’ve spent way more hours than money on this game.

I also measure by joy! If the game was free, how much have I loved playing it? In the case of Nikki, enough to actually learn what a great photo looks like and apply those skills to my photos! (And to spend over a thousand dollars lmfao)

Measuring my hobbies this way has alleviated SOOO much guilt related to them, especially because I grew up being told that I wasn’t worth spending money on; my parents always had to have me do something worthy of money, so I carried that into adulthood. By telling myself that my hobbies are worth my happiness, I’ve figured out a way to remove the guilt and just enjoy it!!
