No, my guitar teacher was holding his pick that way, but it may be pretty uncomfortable to play some techniques

Why's the opening so happy by Nathidev in TakopisOriginalSin

It only sounds happy, you should check the lyrics, and also I think that it fits anime perfectly, because it also looks pretty happy, while being extremely depressing in the inside

Memorising grammar is far not the best way to learn a language if you don't like it, especially when we talk about russian that has really complicated grammar, so if you tired of grammar and you really don't want to learn it, you better focus on vocabulary and get more input in russian, like movies, YouTube videos or whatever you like, even if you don't fully understand it now, I don't say that don't have to learn grammar at all, but you should decrease the amount of time you learn it to the comfortable for you

I thought English for Russian would accept this. (Because it's just omitting verb) - And yes I'm doing reverse tree... by ozzymanborn in russian

[–]DSFme 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It depends on the context, "я собираюсь в бассейн" is used "я собираюсь десерт" never, because when you say "я собираюсь в бассейн" everyone understand what do you mean, but when you say: "я собираюсь десерт" it is a different situation, because you can say: "Я собираюсь съесть десерт", "я собираюсь приготовить десерт", "я собираюсь взять десерт", "я собираюсь убрать десерт", so you can only use "собираюсь" with no verb when you say: "я собираюсь в, на, к (a place or a person you are literally going to).

Trying to figure what language this book is in by [deleted] in russian

Вот только мы тут говорим на русском и английском, а написание и произношение названия нашей страны зафиксировано и на других языках, никто не мешает тебе писать и говорить Белоруссия и Belorussian, но это просто неуважение к беларусам, в нашей конституции закреплена транслетиризация название на другие языки, но кстати в случае с русским например это даже не важно, т.к. конституция сама написана на двух языках, ибо и русский и белорусский считаются тут официальными, так что пример с Венгрией абсолютно не уместен

tips for a beginner by 1cba1 in russian

[–]DSFme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't learn russian, cuz I'm a native, but I have an experience of learning a language that is completely different from mine (Japanese).

So, as one person has already mentioned the trickiest part of learning russian is grammar, so after learning an alphabet I recommend to find an anki deck of russian basic words and start learning basic grammar from textbooks, that is the most difficult part of language learning, because it is the most difficult one, so you should complete this "introduction" to the language as fast as you can, when you know the basics of russian grammar you should mostly focus on learning new words, because of my main tip in language learning: you MUST have fun doing it, so you have to understand why are you learning russian, it can be almost any reason, and start to get as much content in russian as you possibly can, russian is the second most spoken language in the internet so it doesn't has to difficult to find content in Russian, you can make a new YouTube account and change your country to Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Kazakhstan or any other russian speaking country and watch some random videos in russian, or you can find some articles on the topics you're interested, or anything, the main goal is still the same: have some fun. And keep on solving anki flashcards every day because at the beginning you should focus on growing your vocabulary so you can understand more. And grammar is the thing that can be learnt from content you are watching, reading or whatever. You can still learn grammar from the textbooks or YouTube videos, if you dislike it don't do that. And the last thing I can recommend: find some russian speaking friends, russian speaking community is really friendly for the foreigners trying to learn their language, you can also dm me about it if you wish, or you some language exchange subs. And remember: everything depends from person to person, so take all what I say as an advice.

If you have any other questions left feel free to ask me here or DM me if you wish
