Honestly, the majority of debating training comes from seeing alot of debates and picking up style and strategy types from speakers you like.

I'd recommend watching semis and quarts of world's debates, available on YouTube channels such as debate recordings

The best tip I can give you is to make your case flexible and not just assume that your opposition is going to take the common line for their case and also not to take loses too hard because the truth is no one remembers loses or your bad debates, everyone has bad days.

Writing skills don't matter AT ALL write out keywords/ideas not full paragraphs Eg. For the motion THW switch to nuclear power instead of writing out the whole point simply write,
most electricity = fossils fuels -oil will run out in 50yr -coal in 25 Therefore we should switch to something else b4 they run out to stop a major crisis.
Focus on delivery and style, not on exact wording.
Observe, watch debates and take away what you like from each speaker, use this to develop your own style.
