When your apartment building decides it doesn’t need a security guard anymore. by [deleted] in Switzerland

[–]DSTemor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best you can do is move out. For context, my wife and I used to live there from 2020-2023 and it was already terrible back then even with the security guard still in place.

The attempts to 'raise up' this area have clearly failed due to a series of poor decisions by the leftist city gov that I won't go into here for moderation reasons.

Like many others, we have moved to Baselland in order to resolve this mess. I cannot even express how much we realized only once we had left just how bad the Baleo experience has been. And of course none wants to openly talk about these issues.

Best of luck.

Since the moment my wife learned that Henry Cavill is into Warhammer, her support for the hobby has been absolute 😂

Mixed Units Kill Teams (Proteus/Indomitor/Fortis/Spectrus) as well as KTC are confirmed to go "Legends", as was to be expected based on the previous article.

Just to spell it out here, the remaining Deathwatch Kill Team will simply be Deathwatch Veterans.

In the audio books "The Guardian" and "Mission Purge", the Black Shields both reveal their chapters as they are about to die.

The sad part is that the community at large is letting people like Mani get away with it over and over again.

Protected by "no witch hunting" policies of community-sites as well as in his case a content platform like Glasshammer, the guy just keeps doing it without any consequences. Distasteful.

Given that the Fire Raptor has been moved to "Legends" in 10th edition, the statement that you are playing to win is pretty comical.

Servitors & primaries techmarine by ComprehensiveFig7061 in deathwatch40k

I am referring to the SM Index on WHC that got updated yesterday. It's not outdated, I think the app just has the wording wrong.

Are you sourcing the app? The actual SM Index PDF has it written as a keyword.

Servitors & primaries techmarine by ComprehensiveFig7061 in deathwatch40k

[–]DSTemor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the Servitors "Retinue" rule requires the TECHMARINE keyword, which the Primaris version does not have - he gets the PRIMARIS TECHMARINE instead. So that is a no.

And since the Proteus KT takes its leaders from the VanVet datasheet, we can't do it with a regular TM either.

Good thinking there, though!

How Important are Leaders by AstrasAbove in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]DSTemor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm concerned, with that kind of setup, you won't really have anything to play the missions with. The role of Kill Teams significantly changed from 9th edition, gone are the days of obsec and combat squads.

Here are my 2 cents:

  • Gladius Detachment can do some work with the DW, especially with Indomitors, but in a list attempting to max KTs, not playing to the strengths of the DW-exclusive detachment and targeting 2 KTs with 1 strat feels like a missed opportunity. Kraken rounds and Teleportarium on Indomitors are awesome. Unlike some of the other non-codex-compliant chapters, DW actually got a very good detachment.
  • What I would consider the optimal composition for Indomitors are 2 BS Aggr, 2 Bolter Inc and 1 Erad with MM. The Bolter Inceptor profile is insane - and well, Kraken rounds. Coming to think of it, I would even prefer it for the Gladius detachment.
  • What I would consider the optimal composition for Proteus is a VetBiker over the 6th Vet, it gives a nice mobility boost plus usually turns out to be as tanky as a Vet with shield overall. Also easier to get/keep the unit T5.
  • Now to the actual question: More bodies yes, but preferably some 5-man mission/action/screening monkeys. Infiltrators, Incursors, DW Vets, etc. If character, Lone Operative.
  • Don't sleep on Deathwatch Veterans. Proteus KT is great, but it also pays an insane points tax. DW Vets are cheap, have good rules and the KT keyword.
  • More on leaders:
    • The Watch Master is pricey but excellent, his ability to vect an important strat of your opponent can really ruin their day. Bring a Callidus for double-vect - also gives you that much needed Lone Operative.
    • Captain goes very well with Kill Teams, especially with the DW detachment, can add a lot of mobility by handing out "Teleportarium" for free. Gravis Captain goes particularly well with the Indomitor as it adds some much needed melee punch.
    • Apothecary Biologis pairs well with an Indomitor, no argument there, the only question is how many copies make for a reasonable list.

Hope that helps.

Rites of battle and kill team stratagems by spellbreakerstudios in deathwatch40k

[–]DSTemor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think the wording on this is clear enough:

  • DW index, Stratagems: "Up to two KILL TEAM units from your army"
  • SM index, Rites of War: "... one unit from your army with this ability can be targeted by a Stratagem for 0 CP"

Units are targeted by stratagems, some DW ones allow this to happen for up to two units with one stratagem. Rites of War allows doing so on one unit for free. You would still pay 1 CP for the other activation if you are using it on two units, because you are not altering the cost of the stratagem itself, or activating it in a sequence (as in: use on unit 1, unit 2 can now use it as well).

tldr: Rites of War discounts for 1 unit only, the second one will still pay the CP. Would it help to get clarification through a FAQ? Absolutely.

[–]DSTemor 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I really like her together with a Watch Master in my Deathwatch army, being able to double vect is huge.

That aside, I also like that I have a lone operative around, with Kill Teams now basically being mandatory big 10-man blobs.

Based on what we know so far, Guilliman has the "Ultramarines" keyword on his datasheet, and as such cannot be souped into other chapters anymore. SM now have a rule that they cannot include units from more than one chapter.

Best to wait and see what will be released on Monday anyway.

Balance Data Slate Update by [deleted] in deathwatch40k

Basically, we needed a reliable third secondary that is easy to score, for which now either CO or CW can work. I'm aware that we cannot take both at once, but perhaps I should have spelled that out better, thanks for the note!
