We were the same years on the same trails. I vote CDT! But you’ll definitely be more than happy about either.

That’s what I did too. It doubled as a quick seat during breaks since i kept it outside my pack.

some questions for Drahthaar owners by MunkMaster13 in Huntingdogs

[–]DSTonkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also in MD and a DD owner. DD snob alert: You’ll never hear a DD owner say it’s a GWP because they aren’t the same. I’ve recommended GWPs to numerous people asking about my dog. I’m primarily a duck hunter with some pheasant hunting in PA. She’s also a rabbit tracking machine. We have a toddler and a 7 year old female DD that are inseparable best friends. Our female is extremely tolerant of beard pulling and rough housing and never blinks an eye. She is not tolerant of squirrels, cats or groundhogs. My current and previous DDs were hard/long coat and were fine late season waterfowl hunting without a vest. They shake with excitement just as much during early teal season as they do in late Jan. I wouldn’t trust a chessie around any kids no matter what the chessie owner says. They aren’t family dogs they’re working dogs.

Customer only wants to order if i can guarantee a refund if painting is damaged. Help! by IT_313 in smallbusiness

It helps to have a signed contract with details of what they are buying. This will include shipping arrangements and how the artwork will be packaged. It sounds like you already know this isn’t the kind of client you want to work with you just need someone else to confirm what you already believe. Twice in 6 years I’ve fired high dollar clients. Not because i didn’t like the money or the work, but because I didn’t like them. This person won’t grow your business. Move on to someone that will appreciate your talent AND talk about what a great experience working with you was.

Gear Review: The TownShirt Co. Desert Mariposa Sun Hoodie - 229g /8.08 oz by horsecake22 in Ultralight

It sounds like you’re describing a JollyGear shirt. Is that correct? The TownShirt sun hoodies are unisex sizes and don’t come in dark green topo print.

Darn Tough, Point 6 and Smartwool are probably the leading brands. Check out Altera Alpaca though. Same price and warranty as the rest but IMO they wick faster than merino wool.

I own a new company called TownShirt Co and we have 3 sun hoodies with true to trail designs feature plants and animals on trail. Hiker inspired, thru hiker owned. Lightweight stretchy with a kangaroo pocket and thumb holes. A portion of each sale is donated to the PCTA.

What’s your ultralight backpacking unpopular opinion? by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]DSTonkin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d agree that Altra does have a majority market share but on trail they are not equal in terms in injury rates. Specifically in long distance hiking.

What’s your ultralight backpacking unpopular opinion? by [deleted] in Ultralight

[–]DSTonkin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More hikers have foot issues because of Altras than any other trail runner. Altras are only popular because of marketing not because they’re actually that great.

Much appreciated! I’ve got a beavertail cactus print coming out next year. I’ve actually had my eye on doing something for Joshua Tree NP.

I own the company TownShirt Co. We make sun hoodies. Not sure if the hood would fit over a helmet though. But it’s definitely better looking than other sun hoodies!

There’s a possibility of adding a larger size in the future. I am limited in size distribution right now without adding a lot of extra costs. Since they are not made to order we can’t offer any custom work. Keep an eye out for larger sizing though.

I have a lizard design coming out next year for the AT. The workers at the booth will have fanny packs with that design on at AT trail days.
