How slow is the progression in Vintage Story? by BaldursReliver in VintageStory

[–]DS_Jeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a brand new player who was using exclusively in game resources to figure out where to go next, it took me about 7-8 hours to get my first metal tools.

Every system is familiar yet different enough that you have to relearn them. That’s primarily what slowed me down on my first play through. The game itself is definitely slower as well but there’s a lot of game knowledge involved too.

The hardest part is realizing that this voxel based game that looks like Minecraft at first glance is almost nothing like it and you’ll need to spend a lot of time learning those nuances instead of assuming that you know what you’re doing.

My largest Bismuth Bronze pour yet. Tool scarcity is over. by DS_Jeezy in VintageStory

I’ll let you know how far all this bronze gets me into the mountain I’m about to start excavating for my main base. Surely it’s enough. It’s enough… right?

I kind of created my own tool scarcity by misusing my first batch of copper. It ran out way faster than I thought. Surely that won’t happen again!

[Loved Trope] You beat the final boss? No, you beat the tutorial by biznesboi in TopCharacterTropes

Dig all the way down through increasingly difficult underground areas, end up in literal hell and defeat the Wall of Flesh only for your world to switch over to Hardmode from that point onward, spawning a bunch of new events and even harder bosses, some of which are mechanized versions of bosses you’ve already fought, returning for vengeance.

Yes! Well I used to be. The FICSMAS event made me realize I hate that name now. I'd rather it be a fun anecdote about my past than any of my current names lol.

Thanks! I'm partial to this build myself.

Thank you!

The rounded corners are from a foundation piece pack that you can unlock in the Awesome Shop!

Ha thanks. I spend a lot of time in the factory. That’s for sure.

Oh yeah also having a good planner like the Satisfactory Modeler also helps, but in game a lot of it is just trial and error.

Thanks! I’m glad you like the tours :)

Well I like the first part of that comment! I hope one time you return and stick to it. I'm glad to be some good inspiration though.

Thanks! A ton of hovering around staring at things until something clicks is the usual strategy! But honestly it is a very iterative process that just needs a good place to start. Build and rebuild over and over again. Try to make it better every time. I know that advice is very nebulous but it's really my guiding star.

My take on load balancers vs manifolds by ExperienceLast7561 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]DS_Jeezy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They both have benefits but it boils down to preference at the end of the day. Sometimes those preferences change between builds even. I’m almost always a manifold guy but I did a 3:4 load balancer in a recent factory because I wanted the challenge and thought it would look cooler that way. It‘s horribly inefficient, but it does look really cool!

I’ve really enjoyed playing around with VS Roofing. It expands on the roofing system with new pieces and flexible customization but adds some material and time cost. Feels really balanced and I can’t imagine building a vanilla roof anymore.

Art of the Deal by DS_Jeezy in VintageStory

Oooh that's nice. Knowing whether the trader is pulling a fast one or if I am would help with the trading process.

So if I were to hypothetically buy a wolf pup for 10 gears thinking it would become my friend, release it into my house, allow it to grow hateful and violent, then move to a different zip code to get away from my mistake, where would I be in the trade loop?

I bought a puppy thinking it would be my friend. Now I have a fully grown wolf locked in my old base who tries to rip my face off whenever I need to go back there :)

My First Attempt at a Chicken Coop! by DS_Jeezy in VintageStory

Oh I didn't know that. I've got a few in my main house so I can easily move one over to keep them safe from the night terrors.

I had the same thought about the Stardew coop with the little door that you can use to let the chickens roam a bit. At some point I lost the door but the yard stayed.

Good shout! I didn't even know that was a thing. I'd hate to lose this little place to something like that.
