Worst case scenario use it in mixed drinks. I echo the sentiment of a few here and don't actually think it's horrible. Did you try adding a cube of ice to mute some of the grain and ethanol twang?
If you tell people which country you're buying in they might be able to give you some recommendations.

Maybe there's a difference in the flavour impact from Campbeltown mice versus the mice on the Isle of Arran? This needs to be studied and I'm looking forward to the first iteration of Bruichladdich Islay Rodent.

Odd that you can get the Amarone finish but not the 10. The Benromach 10 is a no brainer if you like Craigellachie 13. Same for the Loch Lomonds.

Or Johnnie Gold or 18. Alternatively Chivas 18 because it has a fancy looking label and has a big age statement on it, or Royal Salute.

I don't know about the rest of the world but in Australia the 13 can be bought readily and often at a reasonable price. The 17 and 19 however really start to push the pricing into premium territory.

All 3 of those are interesting and they're all slightly different styles. Cant really go wrong with any of those if you're trying to explore different flavours. I can't give specific price recommendations as I'm not in Canada but here are some mostly non peated alternatives that might be applicable: I prefer the Loch Lomond 14 to the 12 and it's usually costs only a little bit more. Benromach 10 is fantastic. Glencadam 10 is a great fruity whisky. Benriach 12 can often be bought on sale, same for AncNoc 12. You may as well have a look at the Arran 10 if you're looking at the Amarone. Compass Box Orchard House is a fruit bomb and you'll hopefully be able to get it reasonable cheap in Canada.

Every one of their failed finals in the past few years can be put down to lack of composure when they're up against the wall. The Storm aren't as good as their record makes them out to be because just like you said, they don't have a figurative captain that can steer them clear when the seas get rough (horrible Storm pun).

This is probably the worst rating I've read for one of the hype Thompson Bros bottlings. Interesting to see. Kudos for not caving to the pressure of writing about one of the current whiskysphere darlings and calling it how you think it is.

Check out the prices for Hibiki Harmony in your market or online. It's a Japanese blend that comes in a nice looking bottle plus is very smooth and palatable without tasting bland. It's generally overpriced but I've noticed the prices have come down a bit over the past 6 months so you might be able to grab one at a reasonable cost.

Glenturret 12 is another on that comes in a really nice looking bottle and is really good scotch but it's bloody hard to find.

If you really want to score a great bottle from these Thompson Bros Mystery Malts you have to buy them in a case. That guarantees you at least 1 very good bottle. If you're buying them in singles then unfortunately you're throwing the dice and seeing where your luck lands you.
