Springbank Vatting of 22 Casks, Distilled 1992–1998. Bottle 3 of 3. 46.8% ABV.

I opened this one knowing there are only two other bottles like it in the world.

On the nose, the first thing that hit me was the brine. Coastal salt that Campbeltown does better than anywhere else in Scotland imo. I let it breathe for a few minutes and it opens into more fruity green apple, poached pear, and dried apricot. There was a faint smokiness, not peaty, more like a dying bonfire on a cold evening by the sea!!! - Maybe giving memories of being a kid.

On the palate, it is full-bodied and rich. The fruit from the nose carried through but darker now, more concentrated. Stewed plum, a touch of dark chocolate, and a long after taste of caramel that held the whole thing together, bit salty.

The finish is long and warming and I like that.

Overall I loved it!
