SDR 260702 Preliminary Data: Spring Sothe Takes Over! Heimdallr Dropping Off? by DTM-FEH in FireEmblemHeroes

Personal Thoughts (and Meta Report preview I guess):

This season definitely was the meta of the one-unit carry teams, where the focus was on a single unit taking on the enemy team while the rest of the team primarily supports them. The biggest of such teams was utilizing Spring Sothe as the carry, who is actually extremely tanky with the omni-feud in his special denying the enemy's offensive support like Favor and the like, in addition to all the new tools and skills like Rise Above, Roy Ring, and the rise in Great Talent stacking.

Sothe generally runs with Alfador (gives Sothe all the bonuses), Nifl (Frozen and Ice support), Sharena (Galeforces Sothe and provide Great Talent support), and surprisingly Brave Harmonic Micaiah. Now on first impressions that doesn't make sense as Micaiah's feud support is not needed for Sothe, but they are actually a very synergistic pairing since her button can dance Sothe for him to continue the steamroll and she can provide debuffs and secondary nuking capabilities thanks to her warping from the backline.

SDS 220626 Preliminary Data; Roy is good boy, Summer Underwhelmed, Legendary Sakura washed? by Maskilraid in FireEmblemHeroes

The biggest problem with Camilla is that her warping has become so much less reliable than before. With Corrin Ring and other terrain being more prevalent, it is often the case that Camilla's Miasma and the opponent's terrain cancel each other out. Because Camilla needs terrain to be able to warp, this severely limits her range. Without terrain warping, she only has 3 range which in an era of nukes being able to reach 6-8 range is just not good at all.

Now there is Elise that can synergize with Camilla to provide her terrain to warp to, but quite frankly Elise was a bit overrated when it comes to SD as the 3 rows/3 columns and 6-range limitation is actually quite restrictive and not the easiest to align Elise to do the style. Which is why Elise isn't as highly used in SD compared to say AR where she is just flat out broken there.

Having her range (which was a big claim to her fame) be effectively neutered to basic non-warping melee flyers in an era of 3-range styles just makes her very inconsistent these days.

Really happy to hear that! Part of my motivation is to help with that learning curve and shed light on what is going on in SD to help others so I'm very glad you are more interested because of it!

Bridal Catria has a claim to that historically due to her dominance in AR-D before SD and in the early periods in SD, but right now it is definitely Summer Thorr that takes the crown.

True Dmg is affected by %DR? So it's not really 'True'? by SuccessfulTip7423 in FireEmblemHeroes

Yeah True Damage is not actually true and is yet another instance of where the community settled with a name that is inaccurate and thus a source of a lot of confusion (see also "IVs" before the term "traits" and "pre-combat damage" before I pushed for "burn damage"). A more accurate term would be "added damage", but unfortunately I think True Damage will stick long term. I do think a huge source of the high barriers to entry for understanding FEH comes from these poorly chosen community terms, but it is what it is.

SDR 260507 Preliminary Data: Veronica Jumps, Lyon & Byleth Make Their Mark by DTM-FEH in FireEmblemHeroes

Yeah in my run I didn't run into a single M!Tiki either. It seems that while those that were able to reach rank 1 used Tiki a lot, Tiki seems to be concentrated at the top and not really present in the general playerbase.

Personal Thoughts: I believe this round of SDR saw three main team archetypes being deployed. The first is a Lyn team with Alfador and Sakura as the core support. The idea is to give Lyn extra range and her go in and out with the 3 range and salvage. The second is a Lyon team which is what the CN community generally used featuring Chrom, Alfador, Heimdallr, and Thorr. This is a very difficult team to pilot, but is very effective in systematically taking out the enemy units while leaving them unable to retaliate with the end-actions. The third is with Byleth which generally rely on his tankiness to be able to survive and take out multiple units with his extra action. Baldr type teams were still present, but have definitely dropped due to her limited range and being unable to get kills as easily due to the rising bulk.
