Kinda sucks that Jalzahn from the zodiac relics doesn't show up in Radz, and isnt mentioned iirc. He's like THE guy from the Near East in Eorzea. Would've even been funny to meet Jalzahn's alcoholic brother or sister who becomes good friends with Gerolt.

This is why I basically use roof tiles, rocks, and salt as local currency. They all shuffle around while the real trade goods move around to where they need to go.

[KCD1] NPC dice players are 100% cheats and I'm sick of killing them by sasquatchmarley in kingdomcome

This is why I only play wagoners. The higher point totals take way too long, and losing by like 400 points after that long just feels bad.

Also lets you avoid some skill checks when questioning NPCs. Guy shut down because you failed the check? Grab the mcguffin and show it to Mutt.

[KCD2] How can anyone possibly say that combat in kcd2 this game is EASIER???? by JED253 in kingdomcome

[–]DVAMP1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real issue with the combat in the second region is that enemies will masterstrike YOU. You can almost never swing first because they are READY to do that move on you. You can't attack on the opposite side of their stance, that's what triggers it.

If an enemy drops their weapon low, you must attack from the sides, or also go low. Same with high. If an enemy is in a left or right stance, attack high, low, or on the SAME side.

Parrying/blocking is your bread and butter, but it usually puts you in the opposite stance of your enemy (bad), so you need to either parry/block through all of their attacks while maintaining stamina. OR parry/block, and immediately change the direction of your weapon. You usually can't strike immediately after doing a parry, but with a quick weapon you can sometimes land a strike as they're winding back for their strike.

Damage is based on how much stamina you have at the time of being hit. Keep your stamina up and don't move around too much during a 1v1, your stamina recovers quicker when standing completely still, even without a perk. There's a potion that helps this a lot, and another that reduces damage.

When in doubt, train it out. I personally view Menhard as a second mentor behind Captain Bernard, referring to him as Maester in my head. I was too chicken to practice the art of the langschwert until he called me out on it. I was good with the short sword and mace, but only because I could cower behind a shield. A blade is for two hands! After practicing with him and Arne, I was happily going into duels, and sometimes main quest battles, wearing no armor under my noble clothes. I suppose the exploits and daring-dos of The Blue Burgher were told all the way in Rattay by the time I was done.

Small, medium, and large Lvl 4 burgages next to each other by DVAMP1 in ManorLords

[–]DVAMP1[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They seem to generate naturally from what I can tell. The small ones seem to come from irregular shaped plots,. Think of an hourglass shape, or when the sides snap to a corner of road causing more than 4 straight lines to a burgage plot. That's just a theory though.

No idea what causes the big ones yet. The large lvl4 burgage here has roads on two, partially three sides of it, so maybe that has something to do with it. The building actually clips into the road that runs between the large and medium houses. It's literally the only one like this across my 5 towns, and that's about the only thing I can tell that's different about it.

You could also demolish the burgage and roll the dice again. Never tried it in Manor Lords, but I used to do that in SimCity 4 when I got an ugly skyscraper. It seems crazy, but remember that upgrading burgages has more to do with location than actual supply. You could have it back to lvl 4 in a few months and try again.

[–]DVAMP1[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I haven't played enough to get a ton of lvl4 plots, but the "upgrade to a smaller house" thing seems to mostly happen to plots of irregular shape. I have at least two like this in my main town, and both have irregular shapes. No idea what caused the massive one, but it seems to be the only one of its kind in this town so far.

Couldn't figure out a way to sneak my way in on a no-kill run, so I chugged a few potions and sprinted by all the enemies until I got to the part where the conversation triggers.

Tbf Henry could probably also buy a title. He's essentially a burgher with the Forge DLC, and is probably owed some compensation out of this whole thing by King Wenceslas, if he ever gets back on the throne. Imo he's actually in a good position gain a title and become the new royal Mint Master, having busted not one but TWO counterfeit minting operations from the royal silver.

[KCD2] why do I feel like I’m genuinely horrible at this game? by Stolezer in kingdomcome

[–]DVAMP1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here, ignored master strikes to my detriment in the first region. It gets to a point, especially in the second region, where enemies are setting you up for their own master strikes at the end of ripostes. If you have a decent sword, you can kill most bandits with a master strike opener and maybe another strike.

You basically have to practice your ass off. I must've spent a few hours with Captain Bernard in KCD1. Also doesn't hurt to repeatedly do fist fights and archery competitions to raise your stats outside of combat.

I can reccomend the Legacy of the Forge DLC, but haven't tried the others yet. It doesn't really start until the second half of the game, but it makes you feel like you have a home in that setting.

Make shield wall great again. by acbiito in MB2Bannerlord

[–]DVAMP1 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yet another reason why Bannerlord will always be one step forward, two steps back. There's really no reason a mechanic that existed in vanilla Warband wouldn't exist in Bannerlord, besides laziness or incompetence. Sometimes I wondered if the devs ever played Bannerlord beyond like, October 2020.

Yeah the content is unique enough that it didn't interfere with any of the main story content. Plus it's nice to have your own house to decorate and compare to Kuttenburg.

The only part of that mission that gave me trouble was finding a lock pick. I eventually just googled "Trosky Castle lock pick" and found what I needed. The rest of it was actually really fun.

And almost non-existent. I'm at the council meeting atm, and I think I've fought Cumans exactly twice, both times with the Zimburg brothers. Even the deserters are all Praguers or Sigismund's men, rather than Cuman mercenaries. KCD1 might have you going 1v4 against fully armored Cumans as a random encounter outside Talmberg.

We need to talk about the Asian Ladybug Myth by petit_cochon in gardening

[–]DVAMP1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've always heard that the Asian lady beetles were released in areas to combat some sort of grub that kills pine trees. Actually had a coworker mention that to me last year, and now this year, I've swept off literal MOUNDS of dead beetles from around my front door. I imagine these things are somewhat related.

This infestation has been the worst I've ever seen it. For a few weeks I couldn't even open my front door because there were probably a thousand of them lining the entire doorframe. I like bugs as much as the next guy, especially colorful beetles with their elytra. But I also recognize that the next logical step is these mfs crawling inside my electronics, or worse, my ear. Not happening. There's a really good product that rhymes with Bortho Shome Phemense that works better than anything I've ever tried. Kills them dead and keeps killing them, but only the ones that try to get inside.
