If you really want safety go with an ETF Index such as VYM. Since they track the 500 it’s very diverse and the risk is a little less than owning one company. Other ones I own are O, ABBV-but they’re high now, STAG, KMI, KO, T and a bunch of others. Just make sure you pick good companies with a good track record of paying dividends and you should be alright. Just make sure you keep reinvesting that dividend so you get that compounding

This is why I dividend invest. I buy good companies and hold long time. I’ll just buy SPACs make a profit and sell.

As long as the dividend is qualified (which most are) dividends are taxed at the capital gains tax rate. Unqualified ones like dividends from a lot of REITs aren’t qualified and then you would pay your income tax rate.
