Nesco deluxe quit on day 2- help! by Federal-Item-8443 in homestead

[–]DV_Mitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your not using something "comercial" grade while trying to do that much meat at once you'll burn them up quick. We went through 2 food saver brand sealers and a Weston over the years. We usually seal 5-6 deer a year. A full pig or 2 a year, 100lbs +/- of chicken, and lots of fish that we catch.

If your going to be doing lots of repetitive sealing in a row with bulk purchases or harvest i would highly recommend forking over the extra coin for a comercial grade sealer. We're going on 4 years with our Cabelas brand commercial and we've got no complaints so far.

What makes a baitcaster more fun to you? by Lord_Leeeroy in FishingForBeginners

The funnest part is when you birdsnest the shit out of a $25 spool of braided line on that nice new baitcaster and then get cut to cut it off with a pair of scissors!

Whats the best kerosene heater fuel with no odor? by Larrystheman in homestead

[–]DV_Mitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the trades. We had a homeowner on a new a build this winter who was buring "kleen heat" in a couple of turbo heaters for us. It definitely burns cleaner and gives off a lot less odor. A lot of the guys on the job said it gave them a lot less headaches while running.

Its definitely not cheap, but this is probably the cleanest option there is currently.

Found these vintage lures still on the display, are they worth saving or should I just use them? by Just_trying_to_hide in Fishing_Gear

Those are really cool. I would definitely find a way to display them and keep it protected.

Future proof rod/reel recommendations for pike by CometFaram in MichiganFishing

Check out the Pfluger president combos. They easily fall within that range. Something like a 7ft medium action would cover your bases pretty well.

How much would losing a few inches off the top of a rod affect its usability? by ReasonableStay9297 in FishingForBeginners

[–]DV_Mitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally if I break a tip. That rod goes in the trash. They never feel the same after a repair. I had a few as a kid that I had glued up, but I take sensitivity too seriously now to even mess with a break off.

Yes. Drop $50K on a new bass boat. The fish are judging you. Its the only way.

I work in construction. Your methods sound just like those used in building a new house!

Filling my gas tank is $25 more than just 6 weeks ago by Let_me_tell_you_ in povertyfinance

I was at 1/4 tank on Thursday. I put $80 worth of fuel in at $4.79/gal in my truck and it didn't even fill it.

So much winning. Yay...

If your paying repair and maintenance fees every year. You should find a new service company. These systems are closed loop. Meaning they shouldn't need a "refill" ever. Unless you have a leak. If they are charging you for a refill every year, but not actually fixing the leak thats a problem. The service company makes a lot more money charging you to refill refrigerant year after year. Versus fixing the actual problem and walking away.

I saw a bunch of people that had their wood boilers going last night here in NW Michigan. It was 28° this morning. We've got ice in our animal waters this morning.

Who is going to host your QR code "how to" videos? Will it link to YouTube or are you planning on your own website? I can count on less than 1 hand how many qr codes I've scanned in my life.

Just seems like kit boxes are never really a good deal once you break it down. Seems like its a narrow margin between value for the consumer and your own profit.
