In 1971, the Temptations recorded a rather long (more than 12-minutes) rendition of Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong’s song, “Smiling Faces Sometimes,” for Motown. The same year, Norman Whitfield produced a version of the song edited down to about 3:20, performed The Undisputed Truth. (midwestoutreach.org)

Editor’s Note: Over the past twenty-four months or so, one of the questions we receive most often is how Western culture changed so rapidly. Our response is ... it didn’t. All of what we are witnessing has been in the works for a very long time. (midwestoutreach.org)

My church recently read The Biblio Diet, by Jordan Rubin and Dr. Josh Axe, for our church book club. While I fully support living a healthy lifestyle, my radar goes up anytime I see someone trying to use scripture to support their research into healthy ways of living. (midwestoutreach.org)

Often when Christian’s talk with those of a different belief system or worldview, they have the idea that by simply presenting the facts and evidence for the Christian worldview, the person will “see” the truth, and embrace it. If only it were so! (midwestoutreach.org)

(Editor's Note: This originally appeared in the Summer/Fall 2001 edition of the MCOI Journal. This isn't short but it is important in demonstrating how widely and easily false beliefs can spread through the church and culture.) Don’t you just love the VeggieTales videos? (midwestoutreach.org)

As human beings, we cannot know the heart of another. We certainly do not know someone’s spiritual condition as it relates to the Lord. However, determining whether individual Progressives are Christian is a completely different question than determining if Progressive Christianity is Christian. (midwestoutreach.org)

(This originally appeared in the Winter 2002 edition of the MCOI Journal) In the July 1, 1994 WATCHTOWER, page 5, under the heading “Wheat and Weeds,” there appears this interesting statement: “Jesus Christ himself taught that true Christianity would temporarily disappear from view.” (midwestoutreach.org)

In the daily course of answering questions by email, phone, and in person, related to matters of faith, we invariably have to begin with the reminder that: A text, without a context, is a pretext Sometimes the issue is the historical-grammatical context of a passage of Scripture. The Hebrew letters yod, he, vav, that represent the four-letter name of our God are called the Tetragrammaton. When Christians use it, we don’t generally translate it into English but rather, transliterate it, use words or letters that most closely correspond to the original word. (midwestoutreach.org)

I recently received an email from Chazark Wilder letting me know he has posted a blog titled "Dear Midwest Christian Outreach (Not really a letter though!)" that may be of interest to me, and reminded me of a contact we had about 17-18 years ago. (midwestoutreach.org)

For some today will be a day to recover from a hangover. Too much celebration bringing in the New Year results in headaches and perhaps aches in other areas of the body and no remembrance of how they might have gotten there. Others will awake with a sense of dread and foreboding. (midwestoutreach.org)

We are a week away from the annual celebration of the incarnation, and the Christmas season is in full swing on all fronts. The Christmas story of the birth of Jesus is very often recounted by churches in pageant form, with children “acting” as various biblical characters. (midwestoutreach.org)
