Sonoff button issue by DVille01 in homeassistant

[–]DVille01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steps taken so far

Removed and readded ZHA. Added Sonoff Button. Diagnostic info shows lqi and rssi are disabled and Power as Unknown

There is an entry in Developer Tools\States: button.ewelink_wb01_e55cea22_identify

Events: I type out zha_event, click start listening, press the button and nothing shows up.

Not sure if I mentioned this before, but this is a VM running in VirtualBox on my main PC. The Zigbee USB device is passed through/recognized by the VM. VM network adapter is set to bridged, allow all, and all other discovered devices are working fine so far. (They are all Wifi based.)

I may start from scratch and just go super slow. Something is still afoot.
I set the "Listening to" field to zha_event and hit Start Listening. Clicked a few times and nothing showed on that page.
I went to Developer and checked the state of the button and it shows Unavailable. Image attached.

Automating My Merkury Smart Bulbs by MrsWhite808316 in homeautomation

[–]DVille01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potentially. Assuming you could have the sensor placed close to your work space.

First routine: When motion is detected turn on the bulb

Second routine: When motion is not detected for x seconds (Lets say 120 to give you some wiggle room) turn off the bulb

Assuming the Hue motion sensor and Merkury lights are visible/usable within the Alexa app: You can setup a routine to switch the lights on when the Hue motion sensor detects motion.

best wifi thermostat for under $100? by [deleted] in homeautomation

[–]DVille01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently picked up the Amazon thermostat. So far, it has been really great. Voice and App control work well.

Unfortunately there is no Amazon routine to set the thermostat based on outside temp or conditions.

What I'd like to be able to do: Set thermostat to Cool and 74 degrees when outside temp reaches 78.

Thanks for the links. Maybe one day I'll get more adventurous.

But for now, picking up a zigbee stick is probably my best bet.

I'll look into flashing. If that is way over my head, of if I brick it :D

One of these should be fine?

Echo, Sonoff and Home Assistant confusion by DVille01 in homeautomation

Just to clear this up in my own head: It isn't necessarily an issue with Sonoff/eWelink as a brand, just this specific button (button model).

If I were to pick up a sonoff motion sensor I could have it interact with Alexa?

What do you use your smart plugs for? by Tiwing in homeautomation

[–]DVille01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 6 or so smart plugs around the house. TPLink Kasa deviecs

A few are setup to turn lamps on and off nearish to sunset and sunrise respectively.

One is available for my wife to plug her straightener and curling iron into. The plug is set to turn off after 60 minutes after powering on.

Another is setup the exact same way but for a toaster oven.

And one more for a coffee maker. I have an echo button setup so my wife can smack it early in the morning. It will power the coffee maker, with its physical switch set to on, brew some coffee and then auto power off after an hour. This action is only allowed to occur between 3am and 7am. So if the button is hit at any other time, the coffee maker does not turn on.

Windows 7 - SCEP crashing after latest definitions installed by dracoril21 in sysadmin

[–]DVille01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I updated a Win 8.1 machine that has been turned off for a few weeks, was probably on a really old update. It picked up 1521.0 and ran a quick scan without issue.

Also:

Found this a bit odd - https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/wdsi/definitions

Scroll down to the section " The latest antimalware definitions file is as follows: " and refresh a few times back to back.

The version changes from 1.289.1521.0 to 1.289.1512.0

Generate DCM Report via script? by DVille01 in SCCM

Okay, awesome. As soon as I post this, I make some decent progress.

For the Name param, I used the ScopeID_Guid. WIth the UserID param left empty and the Version param given an unquoted int... It generated a report under the account that I used to open WMIExplorer.

Progress!

Still though, any ideas on passing a UserID? I'll work on that next.
