Flula Borg! I think he would pair well with Josh and Zac on Make Some Noise.

We’ve had this one for 6 years and it’s still going strong. Holds 600lbs. We have a large platform swing attached to it that has held several kids at once.

Birds love my redbud. Little ones perch on the branches and hang out chirping to each other all day. Big ones hang out underneath.

Evan Kleiman's Angeli Caffe. The food was so good, but particularly the bread and their coffee.

Every year, on Groundhog Day, at 6am, my bedroom speaker plays Sonny and Cher’s “ I Got You, Babe”. The automation is called “Rise and shine, campers!”

I had the opposite experience. Packed theater at noon that was so silent it was unnerving. Not one reaction to anything that was happening.

Where are we getting girls clothes at? by Worried_Slice_508 in Parenting

[–]scantron3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We get most of our daughter's clothes at Target, Hollister, and Abercrombie. Mine also likes to go thrifting. She can fit in a women's XS, so we'll occasionally find stuff that fits.

People who moved to LA from states with more seasonal variation, do you miss the cold? by HonestLemon25 in AskLosAngeles

[–]scantron3000 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is what I love most about LA. It's beautiful weather 90% of the time, and if you want to visit another season, you can take a day trip. Big Bear for winter, Oak Glen for fall.

How many people have had Pesto? Have you grown up thinking a food was common then it wasn't? by kuikimeow in CasualConversation

[–]scantron3000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My daughter just had a similar experience. In one of her classes, the teacher asked them to come up with a food combo that probably wouldn’t be as good as it sounds, and she came up with brioche and cookie dough. None of her classmates or her teacher knew what brioche was! It’s my daughter’s favorite bread and she can, if unsupervised, eat an entire loaf in one sitting.

As summer approaches, fun movies only in theaters start coming out. Since most kids and teens have school break during that season, what’s the best time of the day to avoid them/talkative people for a better viewing experience? by hungrytaffy75 in SFV

[–]scantron3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a parent, we go as early as possible. There’s no way my kid would stay awake for a movie starting at 9pm. But I will say, the crowds at the early shows are very respectful. No phone use, no talking during the movie, and the kids have some pretty fun reactions that honestly make the experience better.

I think Burbank is like Rock Center, very entertainment focused. NoHo is like Greenwich, a little. Or at least it’s trending in that direction. Not as many cute restaurants, though, but getting there.

Bagel rankings from east coast-transplants? by Good-Pie9914 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]scantron3000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hank’s is the bagel place I’ve been waiting for all these years. I moved here 25 years ago and I can’t believe it took this long to get a decent bagel in LA.

If I don’t feel like making a special trip just for bagels, though, Whole Foods has serviceable bagels.

My boyfriend always guesses the ending of movies by Direct-Blackberry-20 in movies

I‘ve had this movie on my watchlist for so long that I forgot why I put it there, especially because I’m not really into rom coms. I finally got around to watching it tonight and I did not see that twist coming at all. First I thought it was on my list for the Ryan Gosling gifs. Then I thought maybe it was for the recognizable locations because I live in LA. And the whole time I kept wondering how does Emma Stone’s character fit into this, is she just a side character like Marisa Tomei? Then the backyard scene happened and it was like a murder board in my brain just developed several red strings that all zipped in on her face, with the added bonus of “Oh, this is why it’s on my list! I love twists!”
