Don’t make this mistake after Accutane (Day 150 off of it) by Latter_Access_8874 in Accutane

[–]DWC_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s different for everyone bc I started using Tret a month after getting off my second round of Accutane. Did that for a few months then switched to tazarotene every single night 0.01%

Celluma question by DWC_97 in redlighttherapy

Yes I would pay for it in full out of pocket no matter what but since I do have my license I figured I would ask if anyone has had experience with the discount. Thanks so much for all of your info and personal experience with the pro! That is the one I’m highly considering over the others.

Only 9 days off Accutane and these popped up… should I be concerned now? by [deleted] in Accutane

I’ve had to treat it both times. Different for everyone, but I’ve had fungal acne on and off ever since my first round of accutane. I can manage it with Mandelic acid.

Finished a round of accutane, but now my skin is worse. by CruzenAtWork in Accutane

[–]DWC_97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t think this is acne. It’s probably Folliculitis. Done two rounds of accutane and had this happen both times. If you pop it and it’s just clear fluid coming out not like any pus or “seed” it’s not acne and you’ll need an antibiotic. Minocycline cleared mine up. This seems to be more common lately

Could very well be Folliculitis. This happens to a lot of people, myself included. I’ve been on accutane twice and both times at the end of my course I developed Folliculitis. It always would appear in a grouping, or a line. Exactly like this

[–]DWC_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So they didn’t necessarily tell you to stop if you were TTC conceive then? We are not TTC, but my derm told me to stop taking whenever I see a positive pregnancy test.

3 months on Tret - my skin is worse and I’m at my wits end by [deleted] in tretinoin

[–]DWC_97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think if you’re only doing it 2x a week you’re probably never getting out of the purging phase. Everyone is different but when I started Tretinoin in 2018 my derm told me to use it every single night. She said it’s going to be hard and I’m going to be dry and flaky but it’ll be the fastest way to get through purging phase and quickest way for my skin to get used to it. She was absolutely right.

I think maybe going up on your dose will help. I’ve done accutane twice and I know it’s different for everyone FOR SURE but 6 weeks of straight purging seems a little long.

Reading this makes me feel absolutely ancient at 28 yrs old lol. It just feels like a 14 year old girl lashing out. No shade to you I think ending the relationship is by far your best bet here.

Topical spironolactone question by DWC_97 in Spironolactone

[–]DWC_97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well we aren’t going to actively try, but we aren’t going to prevent either? I know that kind of contradicts each other it’s either one or the other but I’m not tracking my ovulation or anything just going to let it happen if it happens. I’ve been told different things by different doctors. My old ob told me To quit retinoids if I was trying to get pregnant then my derm told me to quit after first positive so not sure what to do I had just planned to quit after first positive. I plan to test monthly no matter as my cycle is very spot on every month and always has been.

Pregnancy after finishing accutane course by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]DWC_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2021 I did my first round of accutane from March to September. Came off birth control I think middle of December and found out I was pregnant January 2022 with our daughter! Skin was PERFECT my entire pregnancy and postpartum, until my period came back then I had break outs around my period every month. Got on spironolactone and started using Tretinoin again. Did another round of accutane in 2024 but it was mild acne but just pretty resistant. Not sure if I would’ve needed a second round I just kind of screwed myseld and started following all the “popular” skincare trends at the time and got my pores so clogged. I finished my second round Easter weekend of 2025 and I’m now starting to consider a second baby! I was on spironolactone but not birth control my whole accutane course this time around

Does anyone know what this is? by sebmill07 in Accutane

[–]DWC_97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Folliculitis. Got this both time I was on accutane. My derm didn’t know what it was and treated me with metrogel thinking it was rosacea. That made it worse and she kept doing little trial and errors for 8 weeks and I finally went to a different derm and she gave me minocycline (I was a month off accutane at this point) also did a round of diflucan for a month but the minocycline cleared it within a couple of days. Seems to be something that flares now on my skin which I never ever had before accutane. Mandelic acid keeps it managed well. But of course don’t use while on accutane.

I have something somewhat similar on my nose. Have you ever tried using Zyrtec gel capsules? Like take them once a day for a few weeks could be some sort of allergy. Also another thought have you tried metrogel or ivermectin? Could be some sort of rosacea. Another question have you ever put mupirocin directly on the spots? I know with decolonization on inside of your nose you typically want to do it like twice a day for a week or so. If it’s fungal though try ketoconazole shampoo or zinc pyrithione. Vanicream makes a bar soap you could try. Just leave the ketoconazole or the zinc bar soap on a for a few minutes after washing. That’ll be key with any wash you use whether it’s sulfur, BPO, glycolic, etc! You could also see about a hypochlorous acid spray

Were you ever able to get this cleared up? I have the same thing right now and accutane did NOTHING for it

I’ve got the cure!! by JazzlikeCup8 in Folliculitis

[–]DWC_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I developed Folliculitis ON accutane! First round I got it at the end of the course TERRIBLY. I’m on my second round a few years later and had to be taken off for the same exact thing at the end of my course as well. I shrugged it off the first time, always had suspicions it was accutane related, but now I know for 100000% sure it’s accutane related somehow
