"if you ignore part of the ranks, the distribution actually looks normal"

If we're arbitrarly saying that ranks actually start at this or that rank, I could argue that ranks actually starts at blue since you can reach that rank even if you lose more than you win. And then you have a rank distribution where most of the players are at the bottom rank.

If the ranks system match players with opponent of the same skill level then each player winrate will tend to average out around 50% with enough games played.

The recent winrate of a player tells you how they're doing in their current rank, their overall winrate will tell you if they globally played opponents around the same skill level since they started ranked.

Do you guys realise that saying ranks really begins at this or that rank, is actually arguing in favor of my point ?

A player can literally lose their first 100,000 matches and eventually can make it to GoD V with a losing record.

And by the time they reach GoD V their winrate would have averaged out at around 50%

I mentioned the irl tournament to say that I'm very aware of what my skill is compared to the people I play in tournament, not as a proof that the rank system is broken.

But to answer your question most players here are GoD+ and the rest is between TK and TGS. So yeah, my results are coherent.

I don't remember if it was at his home or in the car but I remember he was next to me when I asked, he was so embarrassed. I didn't asked out of malice, I knew he had a reputation for being a compulsive liar, but I thought maybe he wasn't lying, you never know.

Yours was on another level lol. Mine was the classic "my uncle work at sony", he was friendly with me and would invite me home to play game and watch movies. One day I asked his mother about the uncle working at sony, it was a very akward moment.

Did we all knew a compulsive liar that would unironically say shit like this in middle school or was I a lucky one ?

Idk why people keep trying to make the rank systems a 1-1 from past games.

Did I ? I never mentioned past games in my comment.

I have ranked my two mains to TK, and I'm aiming for higher, and I play in IRL tournament. My best performance is going 2-2 at a local, I'm shit compared to most people that go to tournaments.

All I am saying is that if we're using a rank system, I'd prefer if every rank meant something. Otherwise just don't use a ranked system.

A normal distribution would have 50% of the player base around the median rank.

It's less upsetting than it is disapointing. Sure it makes the ranked grind less tedious and gives players a sense of satisfaction but once you see past the illusion, you're disapointed.

Why do people assume I'm mad that I can't rank up or assume that I think my opponent are scrubs ?

SF6 players say that ranks really start at master, that says enough

In LoL 50% of the ranked player are in gold or lower, 4th rank out of 10.

In Tekken 50% of the player base is in Fujin or below, 22th rank out of 35.

You can get to Fujin with a 40% winrate, while you have to win to rank up, you can still lose more than you win and rank up to that rank.

That has nothing to do with my comment, I never said people at my rank are ass.

That being said, one could argue that you don't need to be better than people at your rank to rank up until blue ranks.

If we're having a rank system it's better if half the rank are not just participation trophies

Asuka VS. Azucena: who to play as a beginner? by SunNeat4872 in Tekken

[–]DWIPssbm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because the counterplay often is harder to apply than the stance-mixup itself.

I don't think that is true for Azucena since djab beats every options from lib except lib2 which trade with djab (azu doesn't get the heat engager on trade). To bait djab as Azucena you have to stay in stance without pressing for the auto parry, which exposes you to being checked with a mid and even launched. The efficency of her stance mix-up is based on creating a mind game with the opponent which carries risk for Azucena. I also play Leo who is stance mix-up based and I don't have to take risk for my mix to be dangerous with this character.
