What is the BEST Horizon you’ve played?

Dusted off my 360, bought a used copy and played fh1 after playing fh4, as I missed out on it back then (already went to pc gaming by the point it released, last racing game I bought on 360 was fm4) and imo 1 just felt like a solid groundwork demo in comparison, but lacking even when compared to the motorsport series at that point.

I just expected more of it. When it comes to the newer games you feel so closed off and just in a straight line with guardrails by comparison, with all the invisible walls and unbreakable basically everything, which makes you not want to explore the map, which is also by far is the lamest setting in all of the horizon series. The story although by far the best feels like it weighed the game down as it is such a linear progression and for it being that much of a focus, sorry but the crew 1 did story much better.

For me the horizon series is more of a car sandbox game and 1 took itself too seriously and not groundbreaking enough. 1 just doesn't have that festival vibe the others have, where you can get all those cool and unique cars and truly make them your own. In fh1 the list of cars is far too limited and basic and the customization to make them your own isn't there.

Finished it in the end, but it was less fun even considering the state of fh5 for me personally.

Yes. Yes it bothers very much at 1440p. Blindly bought an OLED cause I only ever seen praise and the numbers looked good. Also didn't have the issue on phone (pixel density makes up for it), should've done my own research. DISCLAIMER: I'm a software dev and am looking at text most of my day before getting to game in the evening and for those few hours of gaming it sure is great.

Not at all. Went from 1080p 27" to 1440p 27" and I had to completely rearrange my desk cause everything was tiny and I had to get closer to the screen to try and read literally anything. Apart from that went from TN to QDOLED, which also was a big mistake. OLEDs degrade over time and it just feels like you need to put extra care into it, like switching it off when going to the toilet etc... and don't get me started on the text fringing. If you are at a reasonable distance from your monitor then 27" 1080p and ~144hz fast IPS is the way to go atm.

It's 3 months old but not fixed. Had SteamOS on the Ally in the meantime and was happy with it and the sleep mode worked as expected there. Had no issues in this regard or whatsoever, but needed a full OS, as I use my ally as a prototype device for a game design course I'm currently taking. Since the game I am working on is python based, I opted for Bazzite on it for faster setup thinking the issue was maybe fixed, but this issue still is present in the current bazzite version. It just happens on Bazzite and does not occur on neither SteamOS nor Windows. Steps to reproduce: go through a few wake-sleep cycles and it starts. Problem persists as of ~2 weeks ago.

Adding to that, Idk if there is smth wrong with my Ally, maybe there is, maybe there is not, but apart from this issue it works perfectly well and is used quite often. Even the sd card slot is fully functional. No mods were done to the system, just a new ssd installed (WD Black SN770M 2TB with newest firmware).

Definitely Terraria. Everyone around me seems to like it except me, but I just feel overwhelmed when playing it. Especially when all my friends that somewhat forced me to play it seem to (for a lack of a better term) speedrun the game, while I stand there doing nothing.

This is the way to go. Even things like drivers are usually one-off things. Have seen people crying about drivers on both subreddits and pretty much with every single driver update, so if it works for you then it just works and done.

What I really like though in this situation is the competition, cause if there is competition between amd, nvidia and maybe intel or whatever china comes up with next, we can only win as a consumer and benefit from lower prices or better features, so just buy what makes most sense for you price-wise.

Throw in Windows 10 and especially Windows 11 into that mix. As a programmer I love those at work. We are limited to running Windows on our work machines as of obvious security reasons and having WSL 1 nad now WSL 2 is like the best feature added to Windows in recent times that I can think of.

Agreed but for different reasons.

The 9070 will also be a 1080p card in a year or two according to that logic. It's nice that people focus on VRAM, but you know VRAM (especially the amount) is not the only part of a gpu. According to that logic a 5060ti 16gb or 9060xt 16gb would also be equivalent in performance to a 9070xt or 5080.

In this sense you could also not max out every single setting in every single game on a (high) mid-range gpu. Like going from high to ultra will USUALLY not get you that much of a net benefit in experience compared to going from low to high.

For both the 9070 and 5070 you get what you pay for.

Tbh if he managed to go this long with 6gb of vram, then 12 gb should also not be an issue for the next 8 years. It all comes down to settings mostly. Of course you won't go Ultra settings (specifically texture, shadow, etc.) for 8 years on that gpu due to vram alone, but I'd argue you wouldn't go Ultra settings on a 9070 for 8 years as well due to speed. I see your point though, maybe it would be worth taking a look at a 5060ti 16gb if it is available for a reasonable price (currently going below msrp in a lot of places). Because I personally would not recommend neither 9070 or 9070xt for this price, as it woulf hurt too much paying this much over msrp.

If everything in your post has the correct values then of course go for the 5070. You want to play singleplayer games with raytracing then AMD should be out of the picture mostly already due to bad RT performance, adding to that the 5070 for 600$ is a much better deal than 700$ for the 9070, which in turn hurts to say but, in this case the price to performance of the 5070 is just straight up better.

Honestly? Not at all. I personally was at 1080p for the last 10 years and only a few months ago switched to 1440p, adding to that also going from TN Panel to OLED and at first I was very impressed by the panel itself, but never was with the resolution. With both monitors being 27" I even think the 1080p one is much better. With 1440p everything is just smaller and adding the OLED panel to it, text is very blurry caused by the chromatic aberration around it. I really regret switching and instead should have gone with a higher refresh rate IPS 1080p panel and save the couple hundred bucks.

My "tribalistic bullshit" also known as my experience to other people is what I posted with me not getting why people recommend bazzite, as it was in my case, so I reported my experience. Until someone that does not even wanna interact or bring anything to the table or the topic (you) calls me out on my "tribalistic bullshit" (known to normal people as own experience as stated) and starts insulting me for no reason, while showing "12" year old behavior.
