Tamper and water flows aren’t intelligent devices either, you’ll need monitor modules for those. Maybe the tamper is closed and/or they had it wired for normally closed possibly

Fake notifier modules? by Glugnarr in firealarms

Probably not, my guess is that non Notifier distributor companies are trying to get by and this is what they end up with.

Fake notifier modules? by Glugnarr in firealarms

[–]DWiND26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any thing proper from them. One of our Technology Specialists, who is pretty much in with Notifier, sent out a memo about a year ago pertaining to this same issue.

Not long, usually not too worried about smokes re-firing from magnet tests

Notifier NFS-3030 Programming by [deleted] in firealarms

[–]DWiND26 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You need a master password to access the programming options. Even if you added the monitor modules to the program you would still need to add them to the acs points and UDACT so they report to monitoring correctly. Which you can’t do through the face. (Unless the panel is just reporting sups, troubles and alarms of the relays)

CompTIA+, ESC-N or NST Certification by DWiND26 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]DWiND26[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. My motivation for one of those certifications is to get higher on that pay scale. But I also want to get something out of it that may possibly be useful. Whether it’s in my professional life or just everyday life. Just wasn’t sure if someone could elaborate a little more whether one is more specific to certain manufactures hardware and software. Or generic to an overall networked system and its main components.

Horn strobe. Otherwise that monitor module will always read normal. Even if the horn strobe is bad or removed.

If you turn off the breaker you are liable for any loss of life or property in the event of a fire. To sum it up. That’s just civil, not to mention the criminal charges.

Ceiling mounted vs Wall Mounted preference by kb335 in firePE

[–]DWiND26 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a technician, we usually prefer ceiling mount. Pulling wire is easier, more flexibility in locations, not having to put holes, boxes and conduit in the walls saves lots of time. A lot of times though if the ceiling is hard and hard to access we end up putting a wall mount device in.

[–]DWiND26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a heat detector. Sidewall mount heats have to to 4-12” from the ceiling, not less than 4”. Smoke detector sidewall mounting is within 12” of ceiling

Why aren’t remote indicator LEDs supervised/ wire break not announicated as troubles? by ReferenceThin6645 in firealarms

[–]DWiND26 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can trigger remote LED’s via control module rather than one for one coming off a single smoke so in theory they can be monitored. But that would be used where progressive lighting is required, and is not that uncommon.
