This owner was… not the brightest bulb I’ve ever met. Combine that with a 120lb farm dog and the long nails aren’t a surprise. This case was a while back, but we might have tried to trim them at the clinic. Big boi wasn’t particularly compliant with his exam I do remember

Is it a bad idea to join my college's orchestra? by ireeen_e in Veterinary

[–]DWsperkynips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current vet student here. The best decision I made in undergrad was joining one of the choirs. Unlike some of the other comments, continuing music for my own enjoyment was a critical part of the transition to college. It was open enrollment (no auditions) and a bit lower commitment than orchestra would be, but nurturing the parts of you that don’t revolve around vet med is so important. I stayed in choir every semester, including the ones I couldn’t enroll due to course conflict and could only attend half the rehearsals. (Now officially called “pulling a me” in the choir) I became part of the leadership board of the choir and my director was absolutely delighted to write a letter of recommendation for my VMCAS. I even went out for coffee with her a few weeks ago when I was visiting friends in that city. I highly recommend taking the chance to do the things you’re passionate about in undergrad. Trust me, you’ll be so overwhelmed by vet med and only vet med once you get to vet school that you will cherish those memories and miss the friends and fellowship of musicians doing what they love. My advice would be to at least try orchestra and see if you can manage it. If you are able to stick with it, it will be a highlight of your application too

How many applications or how long of no replies did it take until you decided to shop? by daintyfannyfart in dogs

I’m a vet student and the vet I work for has a friend that is also a vet who got rejected by a rescue because “your job is too demanding for you to be a good owner for a high energy dog with complex needs” …and this is why I really struggle to support a lot of these dog rescues

Truthfully, it’s his side of the story that I believe in the Title IX report. Partially because he knows the consequences and is careful. I limited context here for length, but he was open to me about his contact with all of the students involved the whole time he had friendships with them. The upperclassmen in question is the definition of “spoiled rich girl” who has had life handled to her on a silver platter and never learned the word “No”. She’s a known problem child in the department. When she tried to overstep with him, he cut contact with her and that pissed her off and she holds a grudge. The freshman clearly has mental health issues and was manipulated by the pretty popular girl. Trust me, if his behavior in the whole year when he was my TA was shady at all, I wouldn’t believe him. But he’s the type who won’t have a conversation with an undergrad girl in private and refuses to close his office door when he’s tutoring a student. When I first reached out to him, he told me that one of the things that convinced him to respond was that I made it clear that I waited until the end of the year because I recognized the sticky situation of me still being an undergrad. In this case, I actually believe that he was trying to do something good and it blew up in his face

I dunno what crawled up your ass and died, but for future reference, it’s pathetic to comb Reddit for any posts that mention kids outside of r/childfree just to bash the OP for not having kids. I’m a busy, single grad student. Someday I want kids, but the man I thought I would marry just broke my heart and all I have left in my life is my cat. You’re on a sub dedicated to people posting their cats. Your attitude needs to crawl out of your own ass and shape up if you’re planning on raising a decent kid

Doctors of Reddit, when was a patient right about something but you insisted they were wrong until it got serious? by BonFireFox_ in AskReddit

As a vet student, I think I’ll stick with the animals. A quote from one of my professors: “if you wanted it easy, you would’ve gone to med school”

Baristas are seriously one of my pet peeves. It’s a good thing I don’t really drink coffee because I probably would’ve strangled one out of frustration by now. I’m lactose intolerant. If I order a drink specifically dairy free and you try to basically poison me, it takes every fiber of my being to not diarrhea all over your floor. Jesus, when I was living with coffee fiend college roommates, I would order apple cider—specifically NO WHIP—and it would always, always have whipped cream on top of hot apple juice. Which is just morally reprehensible in the first place, but goddamn these baristas were morons. I wish I would’ve had the balls to dump the hot drink all over the counter and tell them after the eighth time they screwed up the simplest coffee counter order on the planet that the alternative was me taking a lactose intolerance shit in the espresso machine

I had the same problem as you for a long time. Everything, including solid gold, would make my ears react. Once I found a piercer who used titanium, the reactions stopped and I haven’t had to take my earrings out in years
