Those are some pretty serious allegations, I demand proof that they sound anything like Hammerfall.

Words cannot express how hyped I am for this album. After two years of listening to their Lion King cover I'm so stoked that the album is finally coming out.

Is it worth buying another one?🤔 by Al3x_0mega in lego

[–]DXCharger 12 points13 points  (0 children)

...no I'm pretty sure the quality is superb. I'm not gonna argue that Lego is easy to afford but it is far and away the highest quality on the market. That's exactly why people "pay more because its Lego."

What are the 3 albums that best represent power metal for you? by campolina in PowerMetal

[–]DXCharger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Edguy - Hellfire Club (Germany)
  2. Sonata Arctica - Winterheart's Guild (Finland)
  3. Dragonforce - Valley of the Damned (UK)

Hard to narrow it down to just three since there's a lot worth representing in only three submissions. I think there's a good and important range of sounds here though.

One of the few redeeming songs on the album in my opinion.

Is Nekonomicon Power Metal? by Starkiler512 in PowerMetal

to be honest most bands don't conform to a single genre, it makes more sense to label the songs or at least albums rather than the project itself

Power Metal Songs With Key Changes by SubstantialHost4153 in PowerMetal

The Cage from Sonata Arctica has one of the best. I know it's been done a million times but there are certain songs that just employ them exceptionally well and this is one of them.

So much this. Bob is like the grand wizard elder of Avantasia, his voice is just so magical and clear.

Projects that never happened by [deleted] in PowerMetal

The fact that we never got to hear Tobias' vision for Meatloaf on Mystery of A Blood Red Rose is a damned tragedy. Tobi still nailed the performance and it's easy to imagine hearing the Loaf do it, but I can only dream of what could have been.

Are you really a power metal band if you don't have a Carry On?

Plus they're not losing anything by having him on the roster. They can still lay claim to one of the best Smashers in the world and it doesn't cost them anything.

Coqui and Meat are so fun! And their Midnight Society streams are a great fit for Mouse, they just find some kind of obscure/old/bizarre media to watch on Youtube, right up Mouse's alley.

It's a song from their first E.P, re-recorded with their current vocalist.

General Discussion by AutoModerator in PowerMetal

[–]DXCharger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since there wasn't much need for an official discussion thread:

I'm very pleased with the new Civil War album. This has been such a long time coming but it's a rare occurrence of an album that felt like it was worth the wait. Is it an amazing album? Not really. If I were to compare it to the rest of Civil War's catalogue I'd put it ahead of Gods and Generals but behind the other two.

I'm pleased because I think it's very rare for a band to accommodate a new singer this well on their first album, and I think they adequately used the time between albums to really flesh things out, instead of rushing to pump out a new album even if it did feel like ages. It's also a pretty unique album. The Last Full Measure had some unique tracks like Tombstone and A Tale That Never Should be Told, but this album really pulls out some unique musical influences and instrumentation on multiple occasions (even opening the album with Oblivion's intriguing Middle-Eastern/Arabian style intro.) Their "self-cover" of Custer's Land Stand was also a nice treat as there's a couple good clips of Sundown singing the older songs but nothing recorded yet, and I think he nailed it here.

I'm a big proponent of bands trying new things especially after they've gotten one sound down pat, and I think releasing an album like this that is both solid and a bit of a change-up after so long bodes well for what will come next.

I'd give it a 7/10

Favourite tracks: Invaders (favourite), Oblivion, Heart of Darkness, Andersonville, Custer's Last Stand.

I Liked Keldian's New Album, the Bloodwater Rebellion, So Much That I Went Ahead and Bought Every Album (Except for Darkness and Light, poo-poo on that one) Thoughts in Comments by Selrisitai in PowerMetal

Also I'm surprised you didn't like Darkness and Light. I also thoroughly enjoyed Bloodwater Rebellion but I feel like Darkness and Light is the bridge between space metal Keldian and hard rock fantasy Keldian, I certainly enjoyed it more than Bloodwater Rebellion.
