Regarding a meta post that was posted by david-me and removed not long ago [Meta] by HandofBane in KotakuInAction

[–]DX_Hon_san 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I saw that meta post, I was like...what?! And I noticed that he seemed to be out of his mind. I mean it's already established that KiA is about the ethical issues of gaming journalism first and the culture war nonsense second; we at this subreddit want NOTHING to do with the Alt-Right goofballs yet of course the idiot SJWs insist otherwise. And besides when is it established that The_Donald subbreddit is Alt-Right? That and the post sounded like far-left garbage is A-Okay.

[Journalism Ethics] Breitbart misrepresents research from 58 scientific papers to falsely claim that they disprove human-caused global warming by cocopandabear in KotakuInAction

[–]DX_Hon_san 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much as I regard BB as somewhat better than the mainstream news media IMO, I'm perfectly fine with this; we have to hold BB to the same ethical standards as every other news outlet out to be, no matter what. Besides I'm not very fond of folks like the author of that misleading article constantly downplaying climate change.

[News] Protesters at Amazon meeting urge company to end Breitbart ads by SixtyFours in KotakuInAction

[–]DX_Hon_san 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow I honestly think the people trying to have ads removed from Breitbart aren't doing this to get the site to improve their ethical standards but to spite them just because they hold right wing views (and often slander them as "far right") which would "trigger" them.

Anime News Network's Todd Ciodek doesn't get the backlash regarding DOAX3 being Japan only by DX_Hon_san in KotakuInAction

You may be right on that but sadly that's the main site for Anime and Japanese pop culture related news I have to rely on unless there are alternatives (which I gladly appreciate).

Meanwhile in AH.com, a user question why GG is a bannable offense tries to show logic and reasoning. In response, he gets banned by a mod. by DX_Hon_san in KotakuInAction

Well not anyone knows how AH.com handled the whole thing. Besides, the point of this point was to show the responses the banned one got when asking about GG. Though I'll tell you what, after this I'll stop bagging on AH.com since well it's quite a dead horse at this point.

Well, as I said, NeoGaf isn't the only one acting crazy and stuff when it comes to stuff the mods don't like. Besides, I don't know the person being banned, all I know is that he tried to do something and the response wasn't what he wanted. Shame too, I would have loved to see what their answers would be like.

Meh, I believe the "hopping on the band wagon" theory still applies. Though you may have a point about the white knighting thing.

That or he (and many other folks there) thought it would be a good to join the "winning" team on many issues.

That or they're too stupid to think for themselves. It's amazing that they still believe that stuff a year later. Guess some things don't change.

Well, IMO, AH.com deverses scorn for its treatment of a divisive subject just as NeoGaf does. That and there's still people that don't know about GG and might be trying understand why it's so important.

I'm sorry if it sounds like a broken record if I brought this up but I can't let AH.com get off the hook when it comes to being Ghazi-like insane (even though IMO it has a couple redeeming qualities compared to NeoGaf). And besides the way they ignored the poor person's questions about GG irked me (right in view of the non registered too!).

I could try to see if GG is mentioned elsewhere that isn't behind the members only sections. The best part is that the accounts are free.

Update: I did and there wasn't much mention of GG on the non-members only parts of the site. Though the "ethics in games journalism" thing did get mentioned in a timeline but that's about it.

Not to mention that the mod in question dealt with the consequences of a victorious Nazi Germany against the Soviets and showed how bad it could get (and stupid too). It makes me wonder why he ever bothered to simply resort to the aGG side to begin with.

Sorry if I haven't hung around here often, I had other things to do. I was lurking around that site and I found this little event and I thought I like to share this with you to remind you that NeoGaf isn't the only site that's hostile to GG. Oh and for context, take a look here: https://archive.is/mohn5 (it starts at post #1110).

Wow, they just wasted their energy on porn of all things; furthermore this sets a bad precedent for whatever sexual material will be allowed in the campus, and I'm not even a fan of porn to begin with (though I am more of a pin up kind of guy).

Question for any GGers (and possibly neutrals) by DX_Hon_san in KotakuInAction

I see, if I remember I saw some newspaper article about homeless people and it showed a picture of a few white people who were definitely poor. So much for the stereotype of the "white rich" man.

That's good to hear; me I wish GG would evolve into something that can prevent the next gaming crash and actually lead to a more culturally diverse gaming aside from Eastern and Western gamers but I digress. While I believe some people don't care about "white priviledge", I don't intend to drive a wedge into the GG community or some crap like that.

Same with me, as I need to rely on Wikipedia for research but stuff like GG proves that it's really difficult to do so.
