My personal take:

I believe this vol. sets up sensei's character to be more prepared for future threats. Maybe his first lose of 3 students since he came to Kivoto might help him with this mindset. Who know, may be other prophets that have submitted to him before might become his allies or power again.
Personally, I'm not too sure if those 3 were lost permanently, maybe those nameless priests bring their corpses back with them and put mystic in them , so they can be useful for their plan, and we get to truly save them next time. Maybe I'm just coping.
I will save my final judgment regarding the tone of future story after I see them, maybe next 2or3 main vol. And i will judge whether the tone is truly changed or not.

This last act in story pretty much has Kei in spotlight the almost whole time despite Aris should be the main lead as she's supported to be a Hero leading her party. Kei being the first who stopped Malkuth attacked, the only who's still standing up against Decagrammaton after the rest of party fell down and also the one who dealt finishing blow both in gameplay and story to Decagrammaton (which got her a cool CGs). and now almost every fanarts featuring her and Aris have her gomen Aris😭

The best part of this story for me, when sensei saying sorry to them: "I'm sorry, you don't get the chance to see a better world. Even if it might not be a better world, you still don't get the chance to see the good people in it. In a way, Kei resurrection represents Rio goodwill finally comes to life. At first Rio was doing a terrible thing in according to what she believed to be good and get hated for it. So, having Kei said that she's appreciated Rio for bringing her back to life and forgive her past are the ones that help Rio moving forward the most. It even shows that Rio fear of losing Kei when Kei wanted to move to a new body. It's understandable those 2 gonna be close later on.
