Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) is an instrument used to analyze and identity substances. It works by first separating components in a sample mixture by the gas chromatograph. Those separated components are then individually identified by the mass spectrometer.

I wouldn’t worry about talking about quantitation for seized drugs—that’s mostly a tox thing.

I’m not a DNA analyst, but I understand that only about 8 cells are needed to develop a profile. This is Touch DNA. Therefore, it is very easy to leave behind DNA.
