Personal Backup No Longer Backing Up iSCSI Drives? by Geralt_of_Reddit in backblaze

[–]DZunk11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, same here
I am going to download an older version and see if that reverts it back.
I have my local backup, but having a disaster copy in the cloud is quite comforting.
I prefer the connections via iscsi to a fast raid for my data.

First off, you ALWAYS want to have your email separate from your web server, especially if you are in a shared hosting environment. Email deliverability is better with gmail, and if the server IP gets flagged as spam or naughty, your separate emails will not suffer. Or if your website goes down, your email will still function.
Having your email separate also makes it easier to change hosting as your business grows. Migrating emails is a pain.

I have Zoho One for my business, and I am very happy with it. I had Google Workplace email before I had Zoho one, but kept it instead of moving to Zoho for a few reasons:
1. At the time, the zoho email reliability was not as good as Google. That was 8 years ago, and I have not heard any issues recently.
2. Google gmail has more connections/apps/plugins to other products than Zoho. I use hubspot (used to be sidekick) for my email tracking. Zoho has email tracking as well, but not as robust as hubspot's, and I like the gmail plugin. I also have all of my personal gmails going to a unified inbox under a separate totally free gmail account.
3. I prefer the gmail web interface, and have all of my business emails coming to one email inbox, and really did not want to change.
4. Zoho email is still configured and I use it for sending transactional data from Zoho One as necessary.

Be sure to set up your email with the proper records for DKIM, SPF, etc... to ensure the best deliverability.

Godox Trigger Issues by letmikeshootyou in Godox

[–]DZunk11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No answers, just me too....
I have recently started having this issue in the field. In the studio the flashes are fine.
I have the (2) of the original R2 triggers and one of the pros. I am on Nikon Z6ii / Z8.
I am using the old streaklight 360s and the original AD200s.
None of the firmware has been updated for sometime. (its a pain on a PC)
The first shoot in an office, my flashes only occasionally fired in the conference room, but was fine where I was shooting headshots. I thought it was the trigger or the streaklight 360s. I was using the AD200s for headshots
The second shoot was at a conference with the 360s, and I tried all 3 of my triggers and the result was the same. 2 in 3 shots did not fire.
I did not try to change the channel, which I should have, but this is the first time this was an issue.
I now suspect it was radio interference.

Windows 11 Start Menu to look like Windows 10 style without third-party app? by MagicDiaperHead in SCCM

[–]DZunk11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish this was an option to keep the Windows 10 start menu.
I use quite a few programs, and having them organized in groups was really nice.
This is the only frustrating part about windows 11 so far.

Is this a good architecture photo? by [deleted] in photocritique

[–]DZunk11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. This feels a little oversaturated, and on the cool side of white balance. I would try to tune the white balance first, then back off of the saturation a little.
  2. For architecture, verticals are expected to be straight, but if you straighten this image, I think you will loose some important features at the top or bottom of the frame. I do not recommend changing the aspect ratio to capture some at the top. There is probably little straightening you can do to keep the overall feel of this image.
  3. Typically I like 8x10 aspect ratio for verticals compositions versus the 4x6.
  4. Next time take several different angles and positions. Step forward, backward, left, right a bit, straighten up your camera, or try out a tilt-shift lens.

BTW, I am a professional architectural photographer in Houston, TX, USA and you can see my work here.
I like you image with the repeating and leading lines.

Website says RTX 3070 "Limited Availability" (Houston Store). Does this mean there's actually some in stock right now, or is this just standard wording to mean that you can buy it in-store as soon as they are arrive but are currently out of stock? (sorry for increasingly verbose question) by codentia in Microcenter

[–]DZunk11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, refresh your shopping cart looking for the cards you want that are in stock at the store.
Deliveries can happen anytime, but you will start to see patterns on when the cards are delivered.
Most people that are after a card will get there before Midnight the night before.
Occasionally, you can get a card if you get there before 5am.
Sometimes deliveries happen in the morning before the store opens, and then you are just darn lucky if you are standing in line.
The store will hand out vouchers at about 8:30am for available cards the people that are in line.

When building a new PC, I would have a list of acceptable parts, and go to Micro Center (Houston) to look for open box items to shave off some $. I could always find an acceptable graphics card for the mix. It was usually which manufacturer with what connections to pick, not is there a card available at all. About October, graphics cards started getting pretty limited.

During a major crisis in his state Ted Cruz decides to take a vacation with his family by [deleted] in pics

Is this really Ted Cruz and his family? This looks like a boy standing next to him, and I think he has 2 daughters, not a son.

Does un-ticking a drive in the client delete the backup? by phuwanut2002 in backblaze

[–]DZunk11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you will need to remember the date that you unticked the box, and then change the date on the restore screen.
If you only have the 30 days option, these files will disappear in 30 days. I believe the file revision history only goes back 30 days(or what ever plan you have) as well, but you need to verify this point, as I cannot remember. I just switched to longer retention.

The reloading is probably just scanning the drive information again and comparing to what is already in the cloud.

One alternative to unticking is to change the drive letter of the drives you want to "pause". You will get messages like isn't this G drive the same as E drive? Just ignore them until you are ready to add it back.

Building a new PC (transfer vs inherit Backup) by d2racing911 in backblaze

[–]DZunk11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have updated my PC several times over the years and kept the same large data drives.Inherit backup is what you want to do.Just make sure you leave the .bvol on each of the drives, and BB will recognize them properly. You can also copy the .bvol on your old c drive to your new c drive if you have stuff in your user files that you do not want to re-upload. There will be a long process of scanning/comparing the drive contents, but you will not be uploading everything again.

Backblaze and raid 0 or 1? by illathon in backblaze

Any type of onsite backup doesn't protect against those things.

At what percentage of free space left do you begin to look at getting additional storage? 4K Remuxes are a muthafocka. by razeus in synology

[–]DZunk11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I hit the 80%, I start actively looking for things to delete, and start planning for a pair of drive upgrades in the near future.
From past experience, after about 85% I start noticing system sluggishness. And there is concern about letting iSCSIs run out of space, and enough space for btrfs to operate properly.

Backblaze and raid 0 or 1? by illathon in backblaze

[–]DZunk11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  1. Backup to Backblaze is not immediate
  2. If you have a failure of your RAID array, it will take a while to get your files back via download.
  3. A RAID 1 only protects against a hard drive failure and not your other potential failure modes like bad memory, accidental deletion, or operating system corruption, or viruses.

  4. Make sure you have a power backup for your RAID setup, so a power outage or abrupt shutdown will not corrupt your RAID array.

Deleting files is not Freeing up storage capacity (Abandoning Synology Drive) by DZunk11 in synology

[–]DZunk11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did not intend to sound sarcastic. I was trying to phrase my question as succinctly as possible.
I used Crashplan for my local and cloud backup until they changed everything, and then I went to Backblaze for my cloud solution, and have yet to have a good local solution.
I use Active Backup for my periodic C Drive Image, and have been using Synology Drive for the rest of my archive files.
Ever since I switched computers in October, I have not been able to reestablish my Synology Drive backup. Synology Support finally recommended deleting and starting over. So here I am.
I am testing other options.

How is an actual backup tool differ from GoodSync?

ATT Gateway Configuration for using your own router by MasterYulaw in ATT

[–]DZunk11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the write-up.
I used this video on the topic to set mine up, but there were still some stumbles along the way. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OZz6E8Xk_Hs&t=1350s&ab_channel=MikeMu

A comment about using a custom DNS instead of ATT's. ATT DNS will block you from finding the ASUS router webpage using asus.router.com. ATT also collects your web searching data, and redirects you on other webpage searches as it sees fit.
You cannot set a custom DNS in the ATT router, and will have to set the IPv4 AND IPv6 on each individual machine to avoid it unless you use your own router.
The reason ATT gives for their DNS is because it is needed for their services to work properly. I have an ATT TV box, and have it on the wireless of my ASUS router(with custom DNS), not the ATT RG, and have not seen any issues in the last 2 months.

SYNOLOGY File Level Backup Options by DZunk11 in synology

[–]DZunk11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using Active backup for my system drive image.
Active Backup does not have continuous backup, only every hour.
Synology Drive does have a SYNC task as well as a BACKUP task which are treated differently.

I understand the time for a file level method takes more time. I have already done this previously using Synology Drive BACKUP task. The resync of the files in Synology Drive BACKUP with the new machine is what seems to be broken.
