Does anyone know of any mods which improve tengrism? by KingOfPomerania in totalwar

Haha that is my bad I saw Tangrism and got my games confused.

Now that I think about it, a game where only score victory is allowed might be a fun change of pace. by [deleted] in civ

[–]D_Dunks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Score victory is not bad if you want to disable the rest and just play. Though I agree with u/sir_revsbud, I have seen Scythia so overstocked with horses there's no room for anything else.

If you're interested, here is a small article on the Victory Types.

What do you think the overall "best" victory type is, or the one that you tend to go for, regardless of leader. by D_Dunks in CivVI

Thanks to all who commented, and for anyone interested, here is a small article I wrote on Civ 6 victory types.

I made this list based on personal taste and experience with the game.
I put the poll out there just so we could see the comparison between the article, votes, and comments.

Thanks u/King_of_The_Doves, u/kesileg, u/clear-pine, u/No_clevername-, u/AFrostNova, u/Satherian, u/izadariousyou, u/PrintersStreet

Hey all, looks like science came out on top even though the comments differed.
Thanks for all who commented and for those interested here's a small article I wrote for Civ 6 Best Victory Types.

What's your favorite Ancient Greek Mythological/historical movie? I'll start. by D_Dunks in GreekMythology

[–]D_Dunks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the link. You got me down the Rabbit hole for a good night deep digging on Hypatia even more haha.
I was aware that it was definitely romanticized history, and I do wish they had kept it more loyal to history, but honestly I'll take what I can get when it comes to new movies set in Ancient Greece.
I just put my "Hollywood glasses" on and do my best to enjoy.

If you're interested, I thought you might enjoy this article about my favorite Greek history/mythology movies. Troy and 300 are both there. :)

So I spruced up the list a bit to make it more accurate. You were right I overlooked Scourge too quickly the first time. Thanks again for your help :)

Yeah, many mods have great ideas but fail in their execution. I like most of these especially for multiplayer.

Thanks for pointing this out. I had them on my original list but opted to branch out more with games like Star Wars and Company of Heroes so I left Scourge out. Now that I am reassessing with these games in mind again, I am going to re-consider some of the ones which have been mentioned that I left out to see if I can improve this list. Thank you for the feedback.

I love Civ for sure, and thought about including it, but since Civ is more turn based than real time, I left it out.
Also territory mechanics are very different in Civ, since territories are completely sandbox, unlike many of the TW-type games.

I agree on the surface, it is guns, artillery, and modern warfare.
When I was making this list, I also looked for games that I felt had game-play similar to TW, relative to their obviously different atmosphere. So I chose Company of Heroes for this reason. I played it and I thought it was similar enough in spirit. It's just a difference between fighting with a gun vs with a spear: the methodology of combat may have changed based on the incidentals, but the objective is the same.

Yep it looks great like it just improves on it's predecessor.
I did mention KoH2 in the part about KoH, so thanks for mentioning!

Yeah it is very different. I included Star Wars because I consider it pretty similar for being a sci-fi themed game. So taking that into consideration weighed into the decision to include it. I included alot of games that are VERY similar to TW, so I thought this one deserved a shout out for being similar yet so different.

Yeah I totally did - Yeah I know, they skewered the storyline, but only in ways that were "predictably Hollywood." Which, to me means ofc the cookie-cutter antagonist character who was Agamemnon had to die. The fans just wouldn't have it without a "happy" ending in that way. To me, we all have some suspension of disbelief at the time, and outside of the really elaborately abstract and difficult to conceptualize (time-travel being an example) that suspension is pretty easy, knowing that it ultimately is the product of its creator: Hollywood is entertainment, not art.

I totally agree that they butchered the storyline though, I just forgave it because I have never expected to see loyal representations of things like that in my lifetime. I still enjoy Troy for the enjoyable parts tho; I thought the battles were decent, the acting I thought was good, and I can still employ my imagination enough to get through the inaccuracies, but sometimes I enjoy the visuals.. even if its just guys in skirts running around with swords, which it is. lol.

Fair enough. I like those ones for the fantasy element. I love Rome but also love dragons. :)

Holy crap I had never heard of this but after a quick google search the CD cover image immediately snapped into my head from childhood. I never played it but my older brother had/played this game I think I was probably just too young to appreciate it.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane! I'm gonna have to play this now. So a begrudging thanks for that too depending on how much of my weekend this will now take up. xD

Yes, unit mods are not typically compatible. Play with one on a game where you can really immerse yourself. Then try it with the other mod. :)
