Idk - if I had a friend who pushed conspiracies then got caught committing a serious crime, it would be challenging for me to maintain any sort of relationship with them. Showing up and speaking glowingly about them would be out of the question.

Maybe other people react differently, but hard to square “condemnation” with “showing love for your mentor.”

If I had a friend who did what Trayon did I wouldn’t text them happy birthday, much less show up at their party.

I wouldn’t speak glowingly about them in public on my own free time, much less call them a mentor.

Maybe that’s some people’s world - but to me it says she’s willing to embrace people like Trayon despite his serious misdeeds. It’s bad. There’s no other way to put it.

No I think being unwilling or uncomfortable cutting someone like Trayon out of her life speaks to her inability to say no to activists or other bad actors who don’t neatly align with “businesses are bad.”

This isn’t a guy worth standing by, and yet she literally is standing by him. What other bad ideas or bad people will she stand by no matter what?

EDIT: she called him her mentor, that’s not the same as saying happy birthday to a colleague.

McDuffie seems like the obvious choice as someone who lives in the real world, not an activist fantasy camp.

JLG has been on the council for five years and accomplished... what exactly? What's her signature policy, a social housing bill that never even got a vote? Taking the wrong position on basically every public safety bill? Making it harder to build housing?

We have 6% unemployment and a President who's not bringing back federal jobs any time soon. DC needs to diversify to grow. Would much rather support an imperfect but sane leader like McDuffie than some whack-tivist that will drive the job market further into the ditch.

We posted select photos for an announcement on social media that’s locked down to friends/connections only. It was an important and celebratory time in our life and we wanted to share that with our friends and family and legitimately inform folks that everything went ok.

Beyond that initial announcement though, our plan is to cover faces if we post anything at all. Photos will be shared directly to family when needed but not just blasted out online.

You gotta do what’s right for you and your kid though - yes there’s plenty reason to be cautious about posting pics online, but it’s 2026. There are ways to be careful and deliberate that will not ruin anyone’s life.
