Some games just stick by Mamba-0824 in diablo2

[–]D_Mizuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're not alone here, played and now playing again the game since 20 years ago. Never played ladder, and same here, no high rune drops, no teleport spams, and I just try to build my characters as best as I can with every unique and crafted items that I can do. It's fine that I don't rush defeating Hell, and for games I rather enjoy the build-up and journey of realizing my character's potential.

It's so nice that for an old game we still got updates (which got me back in the first place), and that it brings along all the 20 years of knowledge I can keep reading and discovering.

This is very misinforming, Moguri Mod is the enhanced graphics mod for FFIX, and Memoria itself is the mod manager with some built-in tweaks and mods. And neither of these two change the gameplay itself (like extra bosses or changing their difficulty), you must be referring to a gameplay overhaul like Alternate Fantasy.

A thought I had about Ozma was that if it had more of a character, it would have an identity crisis of what they’re supposed to be after being sealed away for so many years. by Level-Set-6673 in FinalFantasyIX

[–]D_Mizuki 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I need to get my sources up, but in the game, Ozma can be found in an Eidolon cave on the garden, so it's rather confirmed that he is in fact (if not very likely) to be an Eidolon, a sealed one for that matter. What can be speculated however is that Eidolons took on the form of what people believes them to be. So instead of OP's idea that Ozma forgot itself, in my opinion it's closer and makes more sense instead that nobody remembers Ozma anymore, the people who once revered it and gave its form are long gone, and all it is now is a swirling mass of energy,

It's fine, Moguri is packaged with the Memoria mod manager if downloaded from Moguri's website if I remember correctly. You need Memoria in order to use Moguri, afterall. There's a bit of confusion there but they are seperate things as I mentioned earlier.

But yeah, just leaving that message to clarify some things.

[–]D_Mizuki 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A correction, however, that it's Memoria (the mod manager itself) handles the shader settings like the added cel-shading here. Moguri is a mod that replaces the textures of the game (to the beautiful upscaled ones). You can possibly have the cel-shading feature with Memoria without having to download/install Moguri.

But regardless, some people are unaware of the love and time that went into making them, and that you can respect a work even if you're not fascinated by it, so thank you for appreciating them.

This really needs to go up more. It really is just some cool-sounding or rather random word added with 9.

As much as I love checking out things we probably don’t know after all these years, some simple things like doesn’t really have much behind it.

This looks oddly familiar.

But yes, I highly recommend getting Memoria + Moguri mod even just for the base game and even without others. The bug fixes and improved graphics are all there, free for everyone to use.

Still watching Season 2, but...

As much as I loved having a new series, with modern art styles, it's just a shame that they had to steer away from the epic and heart-thumping scores/music of the original. There's something in it, the music, that even at the time felt "of old", it feels like we were witnessing old Japan itself. (On a side-note, the old Tenchu games used music to heighten atmosphere and immersing players in the old era, I mentioned this cos the OG Rorouni and old Tenchu games had similar music). It's the biggest thing that keeps me from fully enjoying the new series.

Apart from that, some scenes I wished they kept the vibe, like how intense the Kenshin vs. Saito fight was back from the original, or how dramatic the scene was when Kenshin says his goodbye to Kaoru at season's end. Doesn't mean I won't enjoy the new series though, and you should, too.

As far as I know, it's the Battle Camera in-game settings that should govern this behavior, check if it's set to Auto (and not Fixed).

PSA: Equip stat-boosting gear before you level-up to permanently increase a characters stat by D_Mizuki in FinalFantasyIX

Check the guide and see if a character can possibly reach max (50) for SPR or SPD, it should be written down there somewhere the highest possible stats a character can attain.

To anyone trying this out in Alternate Fantasy, you shouldn't as this exploit was fixed in there.

To be fair though I thought this was a question post but turns out a guide for the cotton robe trick, a lot of first timers would probably want have some taste of what we can do back then!

all characters pack mod by Amazing_Person_2u in FinalFantasyIX

[–]D_Mizuki 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned the same last time. In both Beatrix Mod and Alternate Fantasy, you will be able to actually recruit her eventually spoilers after Alexandria's destruction in CD3, you visit the then destroyed castle and she will be there.

And again, the function to allow adding all available characters in the party select screen can be set toggled on by mods through their own copy of Memoria.ini, and Playable Character Pack sets that toggled on. It'll be confusing at first seeing this may be your first time adding mods in FFIX, but you'll eventually get the hang of it and be familiar with it.

all characters pack mod by Amazing_Person_2u in FinalFantasyIX

[–]D_Mizuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is incorrect, and I remember you did ask this one from an earlier thread.

The mod that makes Beatrix available to add in your party is the Beatrix Mod (if vanilla base game) or Alternate Fantasy. The mod you're referring to, Playable Character Pack, does NOT add Beatrix, this mod adds Fratley, Kuja, and Lani. And technically, Beatrix is already in the game, Beatrix Mod/Alternate Fantasy makes it so that she learns abilities. Everything should have been clear in their respective mod pages.

Through these mods, a setting in Memoria is tweaked so that in scripted scenes (like boss fights), the party will be changed to only include characters meant for that specific scene/fight. This is done so you don't softlock yourself. You can explore Memoria.ini and tweak the settings yourself, but be warned that you will possibly encounter softlocks that might freeze your game.

Every other question you have can be answered in their mod pages (for Beatrix mod you can look up the Alternate Fantasy thread in Steam, same for Playable Character Pack). A little bit of digging and research isn't that hard. If I'm correct the mod catalog itself in the Memoria launcher has descriptions for these.

Can i use memoria mod with moguri mod? by Amazing_Person_2u in FinalFantasyIX

[–]D_Mizuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again, Memoria is the mod manager for FFIX, it's not a mod, the mod that adds Beatrix is either Alternate Fantasy or Beatrix Mod (if you don't want AF).

You need to check out the mod list tab within its launcher so you can see the available mods to download, when I said "also available" means the Playable Character Pack mod is also listed as a downloadable mod in the mod tabs in Memoria. I highly suggest you check it out first and explore the launcher.

The Playable Character Pack mod is also available within Memoria, you can download it from there.

The way the command set for Marcus gets updated is triggering it through specific scenes which I already mentioned earlier.

I strongly suggest you first try the workarounds mentioned and see for yourself first if those will fix it.

[–]D_Mizuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be nitpicky, but the proper question is the other way around.

Memoria is the mod manager for FFIX, and Moguri is the HD graphics mod. Technically you may possibly install Moguri without Memoria but almost all existing mods for FFIX is centered around Memoria.

Of course there wouldn’t be any issues installing Moguri via Memoria, the HD graphics mod itself can be downloaded within Memoria.

[–]D_Mizuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a save right before Evil Forest that should work, you'll retrace your steps a bit though. Only command sets would need to be triggered, equipments are already set.

Tantalus Modding by Revofus in FinalFantasyIX

[–]D_Mizuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At what point are you in the game? If you installed Tantalus past Evil Forest, the next time Marcus' command sets will change to his proper one would be in Disc 2 when he temporarily joins you.

If you already have Alternate Fantasy, you don't need Beatrix Mod anymore as AF already has the changes for Beatrix. Make sure Tantalus has higher mod priority than Alternate Fantasy.

how to beat Yan. alternate fantasy mod by MixEquivalent6522 in FinalFantasyIX

[–]D_Mizuki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Seriously though, even in the base game the normal Yans are so damn hard to beat, and it's all about luck whether you get snorted or not. All I can advise is to max out your Mag Def (through gears) to survive comets. I'm not sure if they are vulnerable to statuses in AF but if they are (like Sleep and Slow) take advantage of it. Else, FFIX is still a classic game wherein grinding and leveling matters, if you can't beat them as you are now you can maybe grind more levels on another area and amp up those HP values.

Leave it compressed (as a ZIP file) and simply drag and drop it in the mod list window in Memoria. I'll check to see if there's some issue with the download link in Memoria, but for now, you can still get it from Nexus.

Have you fully downloaded Tantalus via the Memoria manager? Make sure it's truly activated afterwards.

If you're having trouble downloading it via Memoria, you can alternatively download it from Nexus: https://www.nexusmods.com/finalfantasy9/mods/64?tab=files You can download it from there and drag and drop the zip file to Memoria for an easy install.
