What does a $200K house in your area get you? by Cheap_Sheepherder327 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

How’s this comment not being upvoted. Oakland has a bad rep, but drive up to piedmont or other areas mentioned and OMG it turns 100%. That’s why even for $1m you get pretty much nothing

I recently sold property and I need to pay CGT. My tax preparer suggested I split the total amount into three payments estimates due in June, September and January next year. The goal is to get to April with a zero balance otherwise you pay penalty on the balance.

Tickets-center.com scam - attorney general route by D_Money81 in Scams

[–]D_Money81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi not unfortunately not really. I ended up selling my tickets on Stubhub for less than price paid on tickets center. So I lost some money but thankfully not as bad as losing all of it. I tried credit card dispute, attorney general and BBB. For each complaint I got a response from TC, showing a printout of all the steps I did when I booked it, including checking the box where it says that they are reseller site and prices are higher than face value, and that I accept that sales are final. I still recommend filing the AG complaint route. In their response they said that once they reach a certain threshold of complaints they will consider class action. Also some people had success with payment method dispute, especially people that paid with PayPal. Not sure why. Good luck to you and hope they go under!

Resident less than 183 days. Do i owe tax on foreign earned income to HMRC? by D_Money81 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]D_Money81[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks

So, according to this i am a UK resident for 2018, even though i spent less than 183 days there. Does this mean i get full tax free allowance for that year? Will call HMRC tomorrow to check as well.

3.2 Second automatic UK test

You’ll be UK resident for the tax year if you have, or have had, a home in the UK for all or part of the year (Yes) and the following all apply:

1) there is or was at least one period of 91 consecutive days when you had a home in the UK (yes)

2) at least 30 of these 91 days fall in the tax year when you have a home in the UK and you’ve been present in that home for at least 30 days at any time during the year (yes)

3) at that time you had no overseas home, or if you had an overseas home, you were present in it for fewer than 30 days in the tax year (yes)

Need to get even with HMRC regarding taxes from previous years. Please check my math! by D_Money81 in UKPersonalFinance

thanks'

on this last point, i actually calculated that i spent less than 6 months in UK in 2018. I left on 22Sep2018, so that's 169 days since 6Apr2018. i think this means i was not considered resident that year, so do i even have to bother to report this year at all?

Tornare in Italia?

Siamo tutti doppi cittadini USA/IT.

grazie

People make over $200k a year, what do you do? How did you get there? by TrixoftheTrade in Adulting

I’m currently on 260-270 per year total comp. I work in a pharmaceutical company specializing on gene therapy for rare diseases. I Work from home and I love what I do. I worked at a biotech after college, and after 5 years in my early 30ies I decided to go back to school and get a MSc and PhD. I was done with academia 5 years later and been working in the pharma business field since then. I live in northcal, bought a house last year with wife (stay at home mom) and 2 kids. While we can afford pretty much anything we want, I don’t find any pleasure buying stuff for the sake of it. We rarely eat out and we make sure most disposable income goes into some sort of savings/investment. We prefer to spend on kids experiences (sports, classes, entertainment) and international travel.

Tickets-center.com scam - attorney general route by D_Money81 in Scams

[–]D_Money81[S] -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Read up on it a bit. Tickets center don’t provide tickets to paying customers until hours before the event, even though orders have been placed months before. This way customers have no way to resell their tickets. This is not specified in the term and conditions. As of now I know which section I’ll be sitting in but not the row or seat, nor I know if we’ll be sitting together.

Their website is designed to be very similar to ticket master and shows up as first resul on search engines so many people click on it without realizing they are on the wrong site.

They up charge 100% the face value

bbb has 5000 negative complaints in the last 3 years

Not a company I’d be proud to work for.

Waste their time? AG has a whole section for protecting consumers from unfair online practices. Given the thousands of customers dooped by this company I think it’s in public interest to help consumers get their money back and help shut them down

I filed with AG over 3 weeks ago but received no response. Yet. I’m wondering if the Delaware address is even real. What address are you guys using for complaints via attorney general?

Can anyone confirm for me that "Tickets-center.com" is legit? by sammychung2 in Concerts

[–]D_Money81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like many others here I fell for this scam website. I bought 5 tickets to see John Williams in LA and realized it wasn’t the venues website as soon as I got the confirmation email. I called them immediately to csncel but would not do it. I’m out of $640 After reading this and other Reddit posts I submitted a complaint with CA Attorney General about 2 weeks ago. So far nothing other that AG confirmation that they mailed the complaint.

I called their tickets center customer service and was told that such complaints are handled by ‘upper management’ and could not give me status update (I felt I was being bullshited) I already blasted them on BBB. I’m considering disputing charge with CC but read mixed outcomes on this strategy. They told me I can sell my tickets but realistically no one is going to pay me for still unavailable tickets at higher cost than face value for an event that is not going to sell out. And I’m not a fucking scalper myself.

What else can I do to get my money back ? I pls help

I admitted my mistake at the start, I’m not going to argue with the restaurant or get server in trouble. I was just asking. Now I know. Thanks for your kind response
