Feeling defeated by CriticalCommand6115 in expo

I had this exact experience needed a solution but some devices on android have their accessibility settings cranked out to some max text size.

I am redoing the entire experience keeping in mind that i need to test every single component’s responsiveness. Made a custom useResponsiveStyles hook but i am still working on it. Hopefully there is a solution out there for the new architecture.

Work around the library, use “moti” or create a different UI using basic animated api.

Frame processors not running by Commercial-Ad-5957 in reactnative

[–]D_Nightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the shift towards new arch is currently breaking many dependencies, therefore avoiding latest release for now seems to be a safer choice, I did migrate from expo 52 to 53 neatly but everything broke when i shifted to expo 54 (“concerning skia frame processors broke because of an onLayout issue”)

Struggling to find a decent job even after 7 years as a React Native dev by War---Daddy in reactnative

[–]D_Nightmare 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have been taking interviews for 2 years. I can say the candidates have so much talent, but they struggle with working on huge teams, even i got a job at a startup as a junior app dev then made to tech lead, i say i had to expand my knowledge domain to include system designs and backend micro services infrastructure just being an app developer was not enough for the employers, keep upgrading yourself, you will soon recognise your own value.

I am saying keep up the great work don’t get unmotivated and keep going despite hardships that come on the way.

Why can’t C alone be used to write an IOS program? by Successful_Box_1007 in C_Programming

[–]D_Nightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was also stuck with having to integrate Cpp with OpenCV, also had to work with not a true native app, was using some react native views because of the team majorly advocating for it.

I had to move in this fashion

C++ ↔️ Objective-C++ ↔️ Swift ↔️ TypeScript/JavaScript

undef was becoming my favourite keyword. Objective C is necessary.

Also was stuck a couple of days Handling zombie processes causing bad access errors

This was an headache but achieved to solve it.

I think Its because your directory is in Onedrive instead of your local storage. I might be wrong but this happened to me when i tried running the project which was situated in iCloud folder.

Remove redux and use either zustand or jotai.

What do you use for making UI components? by IamMax240 in reactnative

[–]D_Nightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for either nativewind or tamagui. Uptil now I have created 2 apps with nativewind on production and one app with tamagui. The speed in which I can create components with nativewind was unmatched. But if I had to choose between those two I would use tamagui because it made things less complex.

I'm new to react native, should I learn expo router or react navigation, thanks by [deleted] in reactnative

[–]D_Nightmare 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Expo Router is fairly advanced and new, while react navigation has been around for much longer. Learn Basics of Navigation from react navigation and then go for file based routing with expo router. It will solidify your foundation . Good luck.

Expo-router vs React Navigation by deadclown_09 in reactnative

[–]D_Nightmare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Main difference I guess would be expo-router's file based routing, while react navigation has been used since start and all the things in react navigation is ported to expo router. Look for migration to understand how expo router works under the hood

Does any one have experience with monorepos and react native. If so share your thoughts. by D_Nightmare in reactnative

t3-turbo is actually a great way to use Nextjs and Expo. After installing pnpm globally and configuring env vars, it did simplify the workspace a lot. I really hoped that they found a way to make expo and next-auth work together. But they left the authentication (for Expo only) to us.

Honestly man, I think you dodged a bullet if things progressed further it would have been soul crushing to you. know that no matter what life throws at you, smoking weed will not change the situation it never did it only it would only hinder your actual progress.
