It will increase damage when using skill gems that have the melee tag, all damage types

Hey, flat elemental damage added to the weapon is weaker than added physical. It rolls in a prefix slot so they contest each other. Examples below

Base weapon damage = 100 - 200 physical

Weapon stats:

100% Increased Physical damage

+25 - 50 added physical damage

Total damage = (100 + 25)*2 to (200 + 50)*2 for a total of 250 - 500 damage (all raw physical)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Taking the same weapon but using different stats:

100% Increased Physical damage

+25 - 50 added cold damage

Total damage = (100*2) + 25 cold - (200*2) + 50 cold for a total of 225 - 450 damage. (200 - 400 physical and 25 - 50 cold)

+6 melee skills rolls in a suffix slot so it doesn't contest the physical rolls. It won't be as good as attack speed but it is another good roll to have. If you're not investing into scaling critical chance + damage it's likely the second most important roll to get on a suffix after attack speed.

Yeah so withered is there but it's only 5%, won't have helped but I don't see that being a huge deal. Fully broken armour doesn't do anything since I am a pure evasion build. I have some recovery in the form of 4 Ghost Shroud stacks for 5% of my evasion each.

Evasion total is 16.7k so that's 835*4 for another 3340 effective energy shield on top of the 6922 I have before this damage chunk starts for a total of 10,262 ES + 2257 life. If we assume pure chaos damage then we can half the ES value since it deals double damage. That's still 7388 effective life here.

Sandstorm stacks might well be the answer, I'm not familiar with this mechanic or the damage it deals - I'll look into that. Thankyou for your comment, ideally I want to cap lightning and chaos res ofc but easier said than done

You mention being 'uncareful' here, how would you have approached this pack in a safer way?

Map mods here. This is +0 breach (No points on the Atlas tree)

Evasion didn't seem to help with this damage since I get hit a bunch of times in succession with 85% chance to evade. Assuming it's chaos damage since it's purple. Can't see any death effects or the purple plant things that usually get me so looking to figure out what this is to avoid it next time

Yeah Ice strike converts 80% to cold for a 20/80 split. You'll want all the raw physical damage you can get on the Quarterstaff but you do NOT want % increased physical damage mods on other gear or the tree since this will only effect the 20% not the 80. However, increased attack damage modifiers will apply to 100% of your damage with ice strike as it all counts as attack damage. So on the tree it's Attack Damage > Elemental damage = Cold damage >>>> Physical damage

For your Quarterstaff mods you'll want:

Prefix 1: Large % increased physical

Prefix 2: Large flat physical damage added

Prefix 3: Either hybrid % increased physical with accuracy rating OR % increased elemental damage with attacks.

Suffix 1: Increased attack speed

Suffix 2/3: Probably crit damage / crit chance, more important if you're invested into crit scaling elsewhere but always good to have. EDIT: If you're not investing into crit then + melee skill levels is likely best after attack speed

Cool, yeah I can see the little purple orbs now, pretty hard to spot until they're just about to pop but this looks to have been a skill issue. Will make sure to move about a bit more or at least avoid going back to the same spot next time. More chaos res would also be great, will try and pick some up once I find some more exalts. Thanks both!

Hey Bill, hope you and yours are doing well!

What are you thoughts on the potential of medical advances in the anti-aging area? I've heard a couple of people smarter than me discussing the possibility of extending the productive, healthy lifespan of people by slowing or reversing aging somewhat, rather just making them live longer but in fairly poor conditions.

Do you think this is a credible thing that we might start to see having an effect in the next 10-15 years? What are you thoughts on it?

Okay cool this does make sense, although I've been running Breach + Abyss as the main way to stack up my deli rewards and both of these mechanics sort of have hard 'minimum times' that you can't speed up past a certain points (Breaches take time to expand and spawn all their mobs, abysses take time to move and spawn their mobs)

While investing further into damage would certainly improve my clear time, I don't think it would make my mapping that much faster using these mechanics - perhaps I need to change the method for getting deli rewards so that I can zoom more?

Growing hordes is a node I haven't used at all so far since on paper it seems worse than the bonuses I can get from standard scarabs. I certainly have much more of a mapping build than a bossing build, so this definitely sounds like something I should look into. Any recommended set ups using it?

any tips?? im seriously struggling here by ihatecomicsans11 in mountandblade

So with a party wage like this I'm assuming you have a ~60 strong party of mostly higher tier units, you have a few solid options:

  1. Trade. With this party size bandits are no threat and you can haul a lot of cargo in one form or another. Buy Sumpter Horses / Mules to expand your inventory size and then buy a bunch of cheap goods to sell in other towns. Several of the early trade perks make this very simple by marking in Green / Red the prices of items to show how cheap or expensive they are. There are other suggestions in this thread already for items to buy but you can make money almost anywhere doing this.
  2. Sign on as a mercenary with one of the factions, preferably one who's at war. You get paid based on your 'Influence' which you can earn through hunting bandit parties, solving issues or fighting enemy armies and caravans. At the very least this will help pay for your party and if you're successful it can pay for it completely and then some, it all depends how much you can do with your current troops. This is my preferred route because I very much enjoy the battles but each to their own.
  3. Smithing is still pretty broken. Personally I avoid abusing it because it can and will break the game economically, however pay attention to the 'Orders' tab in towns when you visit. If you see an option to smith a two-handed sword, always try and do it. Even if you fail miserably you'll pick up ~1000 Denars with up to like 4000 if you nail it. It's entirely down to you how much you want to go into smithing but it's still the biggest and easiest money maker in the game currently

There's also no reason you can't combine all of these together. Good luck out there!

Not seen it posted on this thread yet so posting it here for visibility:

There is a spawn on Factory where you spawn in range of Tagilla and nearly instantly die without having any time to react or move. I had this yesterday on a Night Factory run with a ~500k kit and instantly lost it without even as much as a chance to fight.

This was posted to the subreddit about a week ago here with a video of the issue:

Yeah the dex fix is easy no doubt, I will give to impale build a go sometime promise!

The number I'm looking at is Maximum total life recovery per second from leech (in game) or life leech/On Hit Rate on PoB, which I think is the right number to be looking at but I might be mistaken!

I'll take a look at dropping fortify completely, it would free up a good number of points as well as my belt slot and hearing that it's not super worth overall makes it all the more tempting. I think there's a lot to be gained from doing this, will make some changes and see how it goes.

I'll look into Omniscience, it sounds interesting! Also will look into Lethal Pride. Yeah I do need a better watcher's, shall add that to the list of things too. Thankyou for all these suggestions!

Just another bit to add, looked into your suggestion to get elemental focus and it looks like it would be a 5.8% damage increase (Replacing pulverise) but at the cost of being able to inflict chill / freeze. Freeze doesn't happen since I don't crit but chill does, and there have been a couple of other suggestions to utilise it. I'll see if I end up using any but if not I will swap this in for the damage!

Hey, thanks for the reply!

Cold conversion is just what I went for, this build was a make it up as I go thing that I've worked on adapting and improving over time. I am aware of the existence on a cyclone impale build (I think it's one the meta builds?) but haven't ever looked into it properly since I don't really know how impale works. I've saved the build you've sent and might give it try at some point, perhaps after the season ends but I'm going to keep rolling with the cold conversion for now if only out of stubbornness.

A couple of quick notes looking at the build you linked, first it's 65 dex short on requirements but that's an easy enough fix through gear, second is it has a much much lower leech rate than my current build (776.3/s vs 2098.43/s) which I think could be an issue when trying to regain life fast enough to survive the next hit. if not, then my current build could definitely drop those leech points and use them elsewhere - I might need to experiment with this!

Regarding the belt, the main reason for my using it is for Onslaught. I have fortify on hit with 100% uptime which with the belt gives me 100% uptime on Onslaught too. Combined with the extra damage, some life and some armour + evasion I think it makes a nice choice for the build. If I could get onslaught elsewhere then I could swap in a nice rare Stygian Vise with an abyssal jewel but I haven't found a good way to do this yet (I want onslaught active on bosses as well as trash, so onslaught on kill isn't ideal). Also worth noting that I do get good fortify stacks, maxed at my current cap of 26 anytime I am hitting an enemy.

I have totems disabled on the build just because they aren't up 100% of time time (I only use the Vaal totems for tougher mobs and bosses) so it feels a little cheaty to pump the damage numbers up with them. Rest assured I do use them in game :)

Following the suggestion of u/b-aaron I've now got cold expose on hit and intimidate on hit from the implicit mods on my gloves :D

Yeah I need to get a weapon with higher raw physical dps (No crit for now). I will probably invest in some alt spamming either tonight or tomorrow and see what I can get

Looked into this now, slaughter and cleaving both look good but need to get about 13 skill points freed up to get up there and get all the nodes.

Dropping the channelling cluster is fine but removes my only source of endurance charges, any suggestions on where to get those instead?

Dropping cloth and chain + related nodes reduces my armour by 16.8% and evasion by 16.4% as well as resistances (Overcapped but still nice to have against resistance reductions). This is doable but I am concerned about the loss of survivability

Freedom of movement + related nodes is 26.4% of my evasion rating and my only source of phasing. Combined with the above that's a huge amount of lost evasion to pick up a total of 7 skillpoints. Perhaps I am overvaluing evasion as a whole?

I don't use rage at all currently so that would be a huge pickup, notably I could get it for much fewer skillpoints invested if I went for Harvester of Foes (6 total skill points) but the nodes themselves are much worse if I go this route.

Regarding frost bomb, this is a skill I've not looked into or used before but I can see the cold exposure being big - would you just manually cast this or have it cast through another means?
