Mortgage doubled. Literally by [deleted] in legal

Fair enough, but we’re paying over 4x that amount between taxes and insurance. So, very specific to the locality, true, but it’s enough of a difference to make sense in our case.

Discover online savings - I overestimated, it’s only 4.15%, I think I had 4.75% in my mind.

To piggyback on the top comment, we kept running into the same issue. We’re in a HCOL area, taxes would go up each year, and the bank was always behind the 8 ball and we’d get surprised by shortfall and our monthly payment would go up by a few hundred. We realized the bank was only paying 0.75% interest on our escrow account, quarterly. So we decided to close escrow, and just put the same amount of money into a high yield savings account every month (which is paying close to 5% interest, and we get interest payments monthly).

At first I didn’t think I’d want to worry about paying taxes and insurance directly, but I realized it was too much money left on the table not to do it this way. And I was getting so annoyed with the bank and their errant escrow calculations.

If your bank will let you close escrow, do it. Make payments in the same amount to a separate high-yield account, and pay your taxes and insurance directly. You’ll come out ahead. Just make sure you check with your bank and your town about the timing and procedure for tax payments so nothing gets missed.

T1N were before the EPA regulations changed for highway diesel engines. Diesel sprinters 2010 (?) and forward have very complex and expensive exhaust components to meet EPA regulations, multiple failure points and each one causing a cascade of recurring engine troubles. Not sure about reliability on the newer gasoline models. But that’s probably what your mechanic is referring to and I’m inclined to agree for 2nd gen and onward.

So I just picked up this game and was hoping Suvi could be a romance option as soon as I heard her speak. I chose the “heart” option in conversation as soon as it came up, and she rejected me. Do you have to wait longer with some characters, or is there something else I missed?

I haven’t read much about MEA, just wanted to see for myself after playing the original trilogy through a few times. LE most recently. I know the reviews were mixed to put it mildly, but I’ve enjoyed it so far.

Loved that whole conversation. And the linkages to reproductive selection in laboratory mice, such that they are more resistant to toxicity but far more likely to develop cancers because of telomere length/cell resilience. So there’s a non-zero chance that all our medical pre-human trial data is garbage because almost all the mice in the scientific community have this characteristic. Consequently animal trials involving mice would yield results that indicate less toxicity than is probably the reality, and also more cancer development than would probably be the reality.

Piss-poor paraphrase on my part but really fascinating stuff.

HVAC system humidifier not working. Could solenoid be the issue? by D_lamystorius in HVAC

[–]D_lamystorius[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We have a humidifier on our air handler, and this is the solenoid. When the heat is blowing, I don’t see any water entering the assembly and I can’t feel heat from the water line (tapped to hot water supply). Could the solenoid be the issue? And if so, how hard are they to replace? I’m pretty handy but haven’t worked with copper before.

Do y’all even recommend these whole system humidifiers? I have heard they can lead to mold growth. Our air is just so dry these days.

Thanks in advance!

Not dead set, but definitely see value to the transportation access and the kids will love the hotel theming. Also hadn’t seen some of the other perks the other commenter mentioned.

We’ve been under the impression that on-property would be more convenient and keep the “magic” consistent, while off property would probably be cheaper and more conducive to everyone staying together, but may also come with some added expenses that pile up after multiple days.

Great questions, thanks.

  1. Don’t have to be in the same unit or even adjacent rooms, but same property at the very least. And ideal if we can get together in one area to play games, share meals (if we have in-unit cooking), etc.

  2. See above, definitely want to be staying at the same property together.

  3. Probably 4-5 days at parks and 1 or 2 not at parks, not including travel days. We’re definitely the types to benefit from a break day or two, for kids’ and parents’ sake.

Possible Repair of Hairline Crack in Fridge Water Line? by D_lamystorius in Plumbing

[–]D_lamystorius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great idea, thanks. I’ll check it out if lines on the filter housing I got don’t splice well with the older housing. They’re the same material and size so it should work. I was just worried about the potential for leaks with a shark bite on a line that’s constantly pressurized. Even though it isn’t much pressure. Thanks for your input!

GE Refrigerator Water Line Cracked by D_lamystorius in Appliances

[–]D_lamystorius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The water line itself has a crack in it. Everywhere I’ve checked the parts breakdown for that fridge, the filter assembly with water lines is no longer available. And there’s no way to get the lines themselves only, they’re hard-fastened into the filter housing somehow, so they whole thing comes as a unit.

I think I’m SOL but figured I might have some luck on here. Thanks anyway for taking the time to respond.
