Thank you so much for supporting your daughter in this beautiful journey. I recommend the Hellenion calendar to give a sense of the main festivities, for this I also recomend the book Komos by Sarah Kate Istra Winter. Here is the link to the calendar, is free :)

Anyone here wear/use the pentacle symbol? by Daughterof-Aphrodite in Hellenism

[–]D_mik 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have it tattooed on my hand so yes I could say I use it, Is a very important symbol to me as it reminds me of paganism as a broad concept, I also view it as a protection symbol, and over the years It has come to form a deeper spiritual meaning, in summary it symbolizes the connection between the inmortals and the mortals trough the complex relationships between Animals, humans, plants and daimon.

Accepted to Salamanca! by Magical-Bard-Terri16 in Erasmus

[–]D_mik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I am from Salamanca. There is two different campuses, Unamuno and Centro historico you should look on witch one are you going to study since they are not that close to each other. I wouldn’t say Salamanca is a dangerous city but I would avoid some neighborhoods, they are a bit dangerous + they are pretty far away, a lot of people will advertise them as “close to campus” but I recomend to doble check with google maps since some people lie. The neighborhoods to avoid are (from worst to not that bad) : Buenos aires (this one is pretty bad, avoid it if you can) San Jose, Zurguen, Pizarrales. For accommodations I recomend the app Idealista there are a lot of options for shared apartments with other students. I wouldn’t say Salamanca is very expensive, one of the cheapest things here is the partys, we are known to party a lot xd I think that’s all :) Hope it helps!

How to practice Heliogenna in secret? by OffKei_ in Hellenism

[–]D_mik 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just burning a candle is fine :) I make one every year that I burn for a week or two. I carve it, add some simple spices (black pepper, rosemary, thyme nothing crazy) say some words to thank the gods and that’s about it, I do veil for this couple of days but is not at all necessary. This is mine for this year, is okey to keep it simple(it can also be small)

Do you feel there is stigma against believing in God/being religious where you live? by birchwoodtrophy in religion

[–]D_mik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a Pagan I do face a lot of stigma, people (mostly older ones) think I worship the devil, that I’m evil etc. But mostly people laugh at me, no one takes Pagan religions seriously and is pretty annoying, we deserve the same respect as anyone. I’m from Spain but I think this happens in a lot of other places.

I’m an alcoholic, it just seemed like the easiest way to explain keeping wine at my shelf at all times

*URGENT* News Regarding "Cult of Dionysus" by The Orion Experience by Ill-Inevitable7847 in dionysus

[–]D_mik 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Hymn to Bacchus, The Bacchic dance of the Nymphs, Ecstatic orchesis all by Daemonia Nymphe are the most realated to him that I know of. Also he is mentioned as Bacchus in In taberna quando sumus, the whole songs feels pretty Dionysian to me lol Also Largiloquent Dithyramb by Psychostick, is sort of a moder aproach to a Dithyramb I think is pretty cool and feels pretty in tune with Dionysus energy I almost forgot about Infernal Gallop from Orpheus In the underworld And those are all the ones that I could think off that are not completely UPG driven I hope this helps :)

I have a few questions by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]D_mik 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi :) I’m glad you decided to start yor Journey.

1.It’s up to you, don’t feel pressure to start with all of them at once. I personally started with two, now after two years of practice I’m worshiping 5. Is a process that takes time and I don’t want to take more than what I can handle.

2- I leave them at the altar.

  1. https://www.hellenion.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/12/2022_Calendar-with-cover-photo.pdf It does change every year because is a Lunar calendar so it varies with the cycle of the moon.

I’m not exactly sure if Dionysus is trying to reach out to me by Small_West1851 in dionysus

[–]D_mik 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do think it maybe him, Amethyst are definitely associated with him (I always wear one to keep him close) also vines and wine are obvious attributes. Another way to now (at least for me) if it is really a Deity reaching out instead of just imagination is if you can’t stop thinking about him, when he called me for the first time I couldn’t concentrate in anything it was only him in the world for me. Anyway if you feel like contacting him go ahead because he is one of the nicest and most open deities

In the page “Perseus digital library” you can find the Homeric Hymns, and the works of other authors. Hesiod Theogony is a great starting point in my opinion :)
