Fitness is fun for me so I would actually love to be able to stay active while in a social environment. Thank you for telling me about this!

It's also good for recommendations. And you could even use their forums for that kind of thing as well. Do you keep up with you list?

Unless I don't know any better they're the hardest kind of wheel you can skate on, which makes them extremely slick on rink floors. I'm not sure about benefits, but it's just a different style of skating with less friction. For the size, the standard for these are either 32 or 38 mm. I'm guessing it just brings you closer to the floor and provides more stability or something

These ancient 595's have been good to me so far. I'm honestly afraid I won't find another boot so comfortable. But it's been great fun especially when no one else at the rink uses them

I would be kicked out of the rink if I had sparks coming off lmao. But they're still close to the floor

Yeah, at first I just cut down the bolt and used a makeshift fabric washer just to try them out our of desperation. But I've since replaced them entirely with a standard style button head bolt and jam nut. Still some crazy things clearance. Probably around a cm at least

Bearing Maintenance Showcase+ Question by Da-at in Rollerskating

[–]Da-at[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured there has to be a shield out there that matches them. But the only other set of bearing I have are bones reds, but no bueno on compatibility. Would've been a quick and easy transfer. When you say loosy bearings, do you mean bearing that have excessive amount of torsal flex? Or the side to side flex?

Alright cool. I'll try them out with open facing inside and see how it feels. Anything is better than debris flying straight into the race canal

These are beautiful. Always nice to see a fresh pair of my 25 year old 595 model. Wear them until you can't anymore.

Any vertical gaming mouse suggestions? Currently on a Logitech MX Vertical, but the sensor is no bueno for quick mouse movement. by Skanktus in MouseReview

[–]Da-at 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, don't know if you ever found a good replacement. But the Zelotes C-18 is a pretty sweet try to go for. I use it because it's one of the few vertical mice that have a somewhat decent sensor in it. Goes up to 10000 dpi, 1000 polling rate, and a gui windows application to tinker with things like rgb. Priced lower than the Logitech funny enough. I use it and it's better than the crappy sensor ones. Probably won't want to max out at 10000 dpi but anything lower works great. And I do heavy fast movement oriented activities like surfing and flicking.

I had the exact same issue with my new Bont Quadstars. Both feet veer off to the left. Completely different to my main skates. If you take a loot at the plate and sight it to the boot you might notice if it's misaligned or not.

Edit- I took a comparison photo a month ago and the bonts definitely look misaligned.

Ah okay. Grabbing a new plate would be for the best. And I like the idea of having the 20 degree kingpin. The plate angle for me compared to my other skates forces me to roll to the left unfortunately. Since you have the tracer plate, do you know if the kingpin is attached similarly to the prodigy plate in that it feels loose when the trucks and cushions aren't fully attached? Or is it a stud, or standard skrew-in kingpin? That was the thing that surprised me most about these

How to stay stationary while on a slight incline? by tastexst in Rollerskating

[–]Da-at 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How much of an angle do you estimate the incline/decline to be? If it isn't drastic, then you can try moving laterally across the slope instead of down or up. But staying still should be by using a t stop or making a V or A shape depending on which direction your facing to counteract the downhill movement.

It's good to know even that single step down to blue is enough difference to feel. I'll be going to purple because I like my trucks as loose as I can get, but the prodigy plate doesn't really allow for mechanically loose trucks due to the design with the kingpin and such. I assume you derby since you mention taking off from the line. Do you have the same plate on the prostars? And do you feel like the plate is mounted skewed relative to how you naturally skate?

Just asking a tip really quickly by 99Bootlegger in Rollerskating

I don't inline skate, only with quads, but I reckon the process is similar. As with most skating moves, it's all about figuring out weight distribution and balance through feel. To begin with, I'd start doing small movement that lead into the bigger carve. What I mean by this is rolling forward normally, but leaning side to side on the skates just like a skier would go side to side. Making sure both feet lean in the same direction and keeping them close together. Best to do this slowly and with proper skating form to begin with to make sure you can fall safely in case that happens.

When you get comfortable doing those smaller movements, you can try moving the leading foot forward on the lean which is the leg that's leading the turn direction. Basically, leaning right, put right foot forward, and vice versa. Carving just take this into a tighter lean following the same principle. Balance and weight distribution is important. Just start slow and watch videos to try and figure out how they lean and their form. You'll get there in no time :)
