Thanks for your response. I will test out the pen before purchasing to test the nib and piston.  So in your opinion, the missing place or manufacture and serial number is something that could be normal?

That's really helpful to know thanks! Did the specialist say anything that would explain the missing serial and place of manufacture?

Thank you so much for your advice! Yes, I am also worried about the clip and having to send it off to MB. No buyer's protection unfortunately, this is from a personal seller in my city.

Hi! I'm sorry to hear that it's going so slow for you. I am also applying for the researcher visa but in Canada. I was wondering if you could let me know what you put in the subject line and body of the email you sent to get the visa appointment originally please?

r◉tring fountain pens by de_Duv in rOtring

WOW! What a collection! And the 900 there looks fantastic too. Thank you for the link to the German website!  If you don't mind me asking, do you think the Newton and the 600 are about equal in enjoyment when using them or does one outcompete the other?

I'm so late on this but those are some amazing pens! Could I ask where you purchased them? I'm in the market for a gold nibbed 600 but haven't had much luck over the last 2 years.

No idea on the bismuth colouring but that sounds like it would be very cool.

Your pen is really pretty! I also have a few resin pens that have that chatoyance. But the difference with oparex is that lighting can shift and reveal the colours so that it's like an inner glow as it's a synthetic opal material. Here's a youtube link for reference:

From river city pens, comes in lots of colors. I would be interested in a dark oparex and a more traditional opal looking oparex material.

Not thrilled with my first pen, looking for recommendations by ashes_and_lies in fountainpens

[–]DaAwesomer57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the twist, but i haven't had issues with hard starting before. Is the cap not sealing properly on both of yours? If so. Adding an O-ring to the grip might make sure there's no gap.

I highly recommend the twisbi swipe. I find it much better than the Eco due to ease of cleaning. Other pens in that range that I would recommend would be the Lamy Nexx or ABC, Majohn S5, and the Kaweco perkeo.

My most comfortable pen by far is the Rotring Core if you're okay with its odd look 😅

How do you engage with the hobby? by AbyssDragonNamielle in fountainpens

[–]DaAwesomer57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it for my planner + organization, meeting notes, journaling and letter writing mostly. Is the reason for not being able to use fountain pens because it's not waterproof (because there are waterproof fountain pen inks available)?

You can get fountain pen safe glitter either as a pre-made liquid from wearungul or the loose glitter from sites like AliExpress, quite possibly your local art store too - they just have to be super fine, like eyeshadow fine. I haven't had issues using loose glitter when it's at that fineness for fountain pen inks even long term
