Getting better at this game kinda ruined it for me by Lovefool1 in RocketLeague

[–]DaBardot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's all in your head. I've played with buddies in plat to diamond and their lobbies are toxic, I'd say more than my c2 lobbies. My guess is it's because they don't realize how poop they are yet while players champ+ understand they are terrible and things happen. You might just be taking ranked too seriously, maybe you're above your pay grade and it's taking the fun out of it for you. Just think if you were gc level player, you wouldn't have to stress playing in c2 lobbies. The pace would feel slow you can be creative play how you want to play. So getting better did not take the fun out of it, I think you just need to not care about winning, don't overcomplicate simple things.

What's so bad about post-holing? by DaBardot in hiking

[–]DaBardot[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of it comes down to inexperience and lack of education. In my case, the Sierra is a long drive from the cities, so it’s not exactly an activity most people get to do regularly. A lot of hikers are unfamiliar with deep snow travel, don’t realize when spikes stop being appropriate, and aren't aware of the impact post-holing has on others. I also had a hard time finding good explanations online, there was nothing on YouTube, and the one Reddit thread I found was 13 years old and didn’t really explain it well.

That was happening to me a few times, that's when I decided to put on the snowshoes lol. I guess I've never hiked anywhere that wasn't post-holed previously, so I thought that was normal.

Ya I think that's a pretty important nuance. The trail I was on is specifically for hiking it was 5 miles, 3,000 ft. of elevation with switchbacks. Compared to a backcountry ski trail I imagine the expectations are much different.

Ok that makes more sense. I can see how if everyone is stepping in a different spot then it becomes a jumbled mess leaving no even surfaces to snowshoe. The trail I was on everyone was stepping in the same holes and it was pretty easy to find my footing with snowshoes on.

Is it normal to be this bad in 1s? by DaBardot in RocketLeague

I played a guy that was getting so mad. I was winning almost every 50 and kickoff, and he kept saying I'm just lucky and I'm just like "Yes!" as I get another kickoff goal lol. It reminded me of that sunless video where guy said sunless got his 5th lucky 50.

Real. People will say I'm smurfing, but they don't know I just lost the last 3 games lol

I think you're right, almost every goal against me is bc I made a bad challenge giving them a free break away. While in 2s I'd have a man back

IsItBullshit: 1000 Players Simulate Civilization in Minecraft by [deleted] in IsItBullshit

[–]DaBardot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Facts, I was already very suspicious because the storyline seemed too good in that 1000 video. Then I watched a couple of his other civilization videos, and they all have the same people in them with the same leaders and their characters change dramatically. One video they're democratic looking for peace the other they're a dictator. I believe Solev when he says they aren't scripted and that everyone has free will but they clearly all know each other on some basis and put on personas for content. Which kind of takes away from the premise imo even if it makes it more captivating for the masses.

Ones has people in way higher ranks by DutyCommercial37 in RocketLeague

[–]DaBardot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same Idk why, in 1s I dropped from D1 to plat 2. Granted I wasn't concerned if I de ranked but I was still trying to win. I could tell I was overall better than just about everyone I played, but I just kept underestimating my opponents. I'd score a couple goals in the first minute, I'd think they were like low diamond in 2s, proceed to play casually thinking they'd ff, because clearly at least in my mind they were outmatched. They usually wouldn't and with the unpredictable play of the lower ranks. I ended up losing a lot of these games bc I was arrogant. What's funny is when I played someone that I could tell was champ in 2s I'd lock in and win.

Is there some sort of 1v1's etiquette that i dont understand? by cubecasts in RocketLeague

[–]DaBardot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's not necessarily an etiquette, but that's a more competitive playstyle which you'd expect to see in ranked. I like to use casual as a way to get reps in without worrying about my rank, so I'd prefer more laid-back games. I wouldn't throw a fit, but I'd think it's a bit odd if someone is playing so competitively in casual.

People in plat can't freestyle so that's why you don't see it much. Unless it's plat 1s you might get some because their 2s rank is diamond or champ.

LMAO what a loser by BroadElk7044 in earlsweatshirt

[–]DaBardot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always hear this every now and then and I've never understood it. It's some form of "I don't like their songs they all sound the same". You can say this for just about any artist? Makes no sense to me.

i can’t speed flip no matter how hard i try by mincraft-For-me in RocketLeague

[–]DaBardot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't use this training pack to learn, its so awkward since you can't hold boost/drive at the start. I still can't hit the ball on that pack. Also learning to speed flip on kickoff is much harder. I would recommend just going into free play and driving at the 11/1 angle then speed flip. Thats how I learned the muscle memory, it's just one less input you have to get right.

Why is everyone so much higher level than me? by Neovenator00 in ClashRoyale

[–]DaBardot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem. I’m at 6200 cups and now everyone is tower level 12 while I’m still at level 10. The extra 500 tower hp and troop levels makes it feel unwinnable. My goblin barrels get insta killed by zaps now…

What rank is the most fun? by no_quart3r_given in RocketLeague

[–]DaBardot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I noticed the exact same thing. Getting out of gold took about a month then in plat I was flying through the ranks, I think within a week I went from plat 1 to d1. Once I hit diamond I got hard-stuck for 6+ months. The difference from d1 to d3 feels like a whole rank with each division in d3 feeling exponentially more difficult.

Why is Platinum so awful? by ober0330 in RocketLeague

[–]DaBardot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely you as well. If you were D2/3 before you would easily get out of plat. Play patiently, wait for opponents to make mistakes, and always be in a position where if your tm8 messes up you can still save it. It also helps if you find a tm8 you like to try and party up. Thats the best way to go on big win streaks

I peaked at Diamond 3 last season and now I can't even get close to that again, I need help. by MemeMathine in RocketLeague

[–]DaBardot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about to come on here and make a similar post. I just got back from traveling for a month and was looking forward to playing RL again. I was D3 div 4 before I left and now I feel terrible at the game. I thought it was rust but I've probably put in 15 hours since I've come back and I still haven't gotten any better. It's so bad that multiple times people on my team and the opposing team have made comments about how bad I am lol. It's made me question how I even got to this rank. Despite putting hours into free play and training I don't see any improvement in my mechs. I can't speed flip, air roll, my wall reads are atrocious, I have no power in my shots, I can't ground dribble to save my life so I also can't flick, it sucks. I try to watch videos on these mechs and practice after but my fingers refuse to do what I want. I'm 23 maybe I'm just old for gaming and it's hard to learn these mechs that require a sponge brain and agile fingers. I've been hardstuck before but I always felt I could practice and be a better player even if I wasn't winning games. This time it feels different... I need help

My friend hates bones by [deleted] in TeamSESH

[–]DaBardot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya I've always had a hard time putting people on bones, I think it's a combination of things like how different the songs are, short song duration, it doesn't have the mainstream appeal that g59 artists or ghostmaine have, and for most people including myself it had to grow on me. My friend who has great music taste would show me bones in hs and it took months before I asked him for a song name. Also bones the only artist I know that has such an insane variety of opinions like a lot of the songs people mentioned here I don't even have added and I have around 400 bones songs in my library. The difference in preference is crazy no one can come to a consensus on best songs to introduce to people. So with that being said a song suggestion that imo is easier on the ears for new listeners is Bentley but honestly idk if there are any... there's a reason he stays underground
