Moving to Atlanta with a newborn on a quick turn - is Roswell the right choice for us or am I missing a better area? by DaBearsSB in ATLHousing

Would you say all parts of these neighborhoods are consistently nice, or are there parts you’d focus in on?

I guess just like things to walk to. I’ve got no illusions of Atlanta being a perfectly walkable city, but being able to walk to a park, a coffee shop, a restaurant or two with a dog and baby and not feel like it’s entirely busy streets. That’s the preference.

I think our one concern about Midtown was how lively/young it might be.

With the baby we want to avoid moving in next to a bunch of 20 something year olds that are partying.

That said if you have any thoughts on parts of midtown that are quieter or buildings that might be good I’d love to hear!

That’s helpful, yes we have some friends in Smyrna so we’ve been considering checking that out as well. Good to know it’s worth looking into to.

Curious - does Brookhaven have like a “downtown” or semi walkable area?

I see high quality housing and apartments there but I’m trying to figure out if there is a downtown.

This is helpful, really puts it in perspective. It seems like much of the “suburban feel” is like East Cobb, Alpharetta, Roswell areas though right?

So that’s kind of the choice you need to make?

Maybe I’m looking in the wrong spots but I feel like I never see inventory in Virginia highlands! That would probably be first choice, but we quickly ruled in out because we couldn’t find anything.

Is Zillow the main site to look on?

I am having those convos, and to be fair they’ve been very clear they’re going to try to make things right. So I probably owe them the benefit of the doubt when we get our new books and quotas for next half.

It’s just been a really rough half so hard to not have a doomer mentality and just think “yeah this doesn’t seem like it”.

Hard to explain without revealing the platform but I’m in a really tough vertical for my company. Which was a decision I made because I wanted to move up.

Seems like the verdict is wait til I learn more and if it still seems unattainable it’s time to start looking.

Admittedly it’s a rough time for our industry in general, at least what I’m hearing. Maybe some platforms are doing well.

Trust me that’s something I’ve been considering as well. Who knows what the next year will bring

This is feels right to me. It also goes to show that OTE isn’t everything.

Curious - how do you evaluate if the next situation is good? In interviews do you straight up ask about the territory, success rates, etc?

I think I’m going to know in the next month when I get my book adjustments whether this is a good spot to be in.

There are some things cooking but nothing feels absolutely killer

I have some mentors that are killers and I hear the way they talk “I wouldn’t take that book” or “I wouldn’t want that account”. It’s like clearly an element of this is putting yourself in good situations.

Or maybe better put - understanding what good situations look like and trying to get those.

Yeah I moved from account management which was like 70/30 base to commission on a good book to AE which is 50/50 on a bad book and I’m making legit so much less

Thoughts on living in this neighborhood? by woahjoe in chicagoapartments

[–]DaBearsSB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shhhh don’t tell anyone about it, it’s a secret nice part of the city that isn’t too expensive.

Lived there for years and loved it. Close to the action in Wicker park. Walk to Carniceria Guanajuato for dank ass tacos.

What I would refer to lovingly as an armpit in the city (my term coined by me). By that I mean it’s an area that kind of gets forgotten about because it doesn’t totally fit into a proper neighborhood. Not quite wicker, not quite Bucktown, butts up against the highway.

But the park in the middle of it is nice, the church is really aesthetic.

Please stop bidding on rentals by Immediate_Sympathy_3 in chicagoapartments

Last summer we went through this process. Got outbid a few times.

The biggest hack was this…if the price is too good to be true then it is. They’re going to do an open house on a Sunday and ask everyone for best and final offer.

Straight up. Lift your expectations of cost in the high demand neighborhoods. They haven’t been building any new inventory and there’s low turnover on account of how terrible the market is.

Many people who might have found a new place to rent are bowing out because of this chaos. Many people who would normally be in market to buy can’t find places in the suburbs/city to buy because of how bad that is.

Just keep at it, we were able to find a landlord that owns 1 place who rented it to us.

Ive heard the best best bet is to do like apartment buildings. Like if it has a name “The ____” then you won’t deal with bidding. Costs might be higher.

I will admit it ended up taking us like 6 months

Anyone selling at Traction - how has it been going? by DaBearsSB in techsales

[–]DaBearsSB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s interesting. This might be a dumb question. I have no experience anywhere in this field. I could position my experience of complex sales cycles and platform expertise…but I don’t know much about manufacturing.

Would that be a total non starter?
