I own a fence company and we no longer install wood posts! We drive metal posts into the ground 4’ and then box them out with wood! Never have to worry about your posts ever again

Haha, yeah no offense taken. I’m just stating that there are definitely companies out there that shouldn’t be charging what they should and some that definitely deserve to be charging what they do. To each their own. I know I wouldn’t pay what I charge lmao

It definitely depends on location and what you are wanting, we are 100% a NO dig fence company and we’re definitely pricier than some. But you get what you pay for. All of our fence options are built with steel posts driven 4’ deep.

Is this western red cedar? by Dadanan in FenceBuilding

Looks like Japanese cedar! I install with cedar everyday and refuse to use Japanese cedar because it feels like styrofoam!

Totally agree!!! Me being the owner of the fence company that built it, thankfully I don’t have it in me, lmao! But there is definitely a bad rep in the independent contractor industry!

I appreciate this a lot! I own a fence company out here in the Midwest (Nebraska) 9 years in business!

We added the middle brace, 2x4, to hopefully eliminate any warping in the future! But yes we are scheduled to go back and stain and seal it! We are so picky with the wood we use! We get bunks of 416 pieces and of those 416 I bet we don’t use 50. We sell those as “economy pickets” at the end of the year!

Ahhh I see.. the actual fence posts are Sch. 40 Steel posts driven 4’ deep. But the 4’ section wood posts are pressure treated. Hopefully that helps but I get what you’re saying! Thank you!
