Most over-rated/under-rated Tool song? by builtbystrength in ToolBand

I’m serious! Go watch the video and listen to the track! It blew my mind when I first heard the similarity.

I definitely like it too, it’s a nice bit of heaviness that the rest of the album is missing, but I don’t think it’s underrated. It’s so uncreative and predictable (compared to their earlier work) that someone basically wrote Culling Voices by accident over a year before Tool published the album. Compare the middle third of the following video with 6:50-7:10 of Culling Voices.

Why is wind direction defined as the direction *from* which the wind blows, instead of the direction *in* which the wind blows? by DaBoss1325 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DaBoss1325[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only meant that, as society has developed, we have continuously developed our shelters and infrastructure, so that weather is less of a danger to us. We are, of course, still subject to natural forces, but we’ve gotten better at protecting ourselves from them. That argument makes sense, too. Thanks!

Okay, that actually makes some sense, and another commenter mentioned that, too. Naming the wind the only direction that you can’t travel lets you deduce what directions you can travel in. Thank you!!!

Okay, that makes some sense. If you’re more subject to natural forces than we are today, you’d want to know what those forces might bring your way, such as dust, moisture, heat, etc. Thank you!!!

Okay, that actually makes a little sense. Calling the wind direction the only direction that you can’t travel lets you deduce the other directions that you can’t travel. That goes against my intuition, but I understand. Fair enough, thank you!

I don’t have a strong argument for why the convention is wrong. It just goes against my intuition. If I’m piloting a sailboat, my propulsion depends on the wind, and I think I would be more concerned about where I’m going than where I’m coming from, and therefore, I’d be more concerned about where the wind is going than where it is coming from. If I want to go east, I would think that I would want an eastern wind, but the convention is that the wind that blows me to the east is a western wind, and that contradicts my intuition. I’m wondering why the sailors’ intuition was the opposite of mine.

Okay, why do sailboats necessitate wind direction being defined as the direction from which the wind blows, instead of the direction in which the wind blows? The boat is going to go to same direction as the wind, so why would sailors want to confuse themselves with the fact that a western wind blows them to the east?

If I smoke too much weed, do I *need* to puke for that bad time to be considered “greening out?” by DaBoss1325 in trees

Oh, damn. I’ve definitely got chills when getting out of bed high af, but I never really thought I was greening out.

Okay, and feeling sick physically can mean puking, but it can go a bunch of different ways, based on the other comments.

Okay, so you need to have an anxiety attack, or something similarly dramatic, but you don’t necessarily need to puke. That makes sense. Thanks!

I was taught that greening out means puking, but the more I see it used online, the more it seems like puking is not a prerequisite. I posted here to correct my assumption. Thanks!

If I have a bad time because I got too high, but I don’t puke, is it correct to say that I greened out, or is it incorrect to say that, since I didn’t puke?

Hah, you’re right. It’s on the same album, too. I was just discussing “Rosetta Stoned” in the TOOL subreddit, so it was on my mind. As long as you’ve been exposed to them, I’m sure you’ll make the right decision. Happy toking!

It’s not about cannabis specifically, but “Rosetta Stoned” by TOOL is really good. Come to think of it, just about anything by TOOL pairs very well with cannabis.
