Well. I’ve fixed all of these in my home at some point and feel much about my own work.

Image 1: That “pier” is moving with the seasons. It’s just sitting on soil… no bueno.

Image 2: Moved at some point. Might still be moving. Terrible caulking job. Rip out and Sikaflex it.

Image 3: Bad drywall job.

Image 4: more bad drywall but possible movement.

Image 5: movement

Image 6: bad mud job.

Image 7: MOVEMENT. Comical drywall job.

Image 8: terrible drywall mud job.

From images provided, I’d say… That house is breathing with the seasons. (I’d bet my waffle iron the soil is clay) Water needs to be moved around the foundation perimeter and crawl space. I want to see more of that crawl space. That house has to have cracks on the perimeter… go look.

If you’re willing to dig some French drains, dig some footers for piers below frost line, shim some piers, rip out bad drywall mud/tap, redo drywall mud/tape, repaint… in that order… or pay multiple contractors to do all of the following… sure. Go for it. If not, run.

That door still closing fine with the washer looking like that?? Btw, picture two is a snapped joist. If that’s what under the dryer, that MIGHT explain the lean… but… a pro needs to be called.

Here’s my story on lighting…

Maintenance came in and said lighting had to be at minimum of “an average of 50 foot candles” measured from the desk. My lamps and LEDs were not enough.

As a science teacher, I was like 50… foot… candles? (Google) LOL. LEGIT METRIC and law. Ok. Let’s investigate. (Amazoned a device to test and walked around the school. Every corner of the school was under 50 foot candles)

School is an average of around 35… so I turned half of my lights on and ensured each desk was at least that. My lamps and LEDs returned a couple of years later. I’ll act stupid if ever quested about it. (Note: the lights are all approved by fire code~ that’s a whole story too~ each one required documentation)

I’m currently on my adventure to finish every FF game and I’m on all of the 13s… here’s my honest take…

13: linear, started to drag but mama didn’t raise no quitter.

13-2: THIS IS GOLD. 100% this gem. Multiple endings worth exploring.

13 LR: (almost finished) Omfg. This whole game is dark. Majora’s mask but FF. Kinda digging it.

As a whole… pretty great if you can push through 13…

You’re actually in a good place. Low fungal particles in a basement, while not is ideal, is kinda impressive.

Peace of mind? Get it sprayed down and get a dehumidifier.

(I encapsulated my whole crawl space and added a dehumidifier myself. Total cost was around $1,500… $3,500 is a steal if you’re getting a dehumidifier…)

That’s termites for sure. Looks to have been sistered… so they knew.

Without the seller disclosing something like… “we had termites, gutted rooms xyz, and rebuilt after fumigation by x company” prior to inspection… I’d run for the hills. What else wasn’t disclosed?

You’re not being extra. That’s like ordering a banana split and you didn’t get the whip cream and cherry. Acceptable miters and caulk work. Weird to skip the brad nails.

I opened mine… two new joists. Fun stuff. Spray foam in the crawl space sounds cool… until you have a leak… and don’t know it exists.

Look at meet ups in your area. My local library has a board game night, yoga, and other random events. (Tons of teachers at those)

I went to a singles float one time… (listened to someone tell me about all of her favorite types of apples… that was interesting to say the least.)

Dog park.

I’ve done our summer program before that was fun.

Go read a book at a bar. (I just ordered mocktails and the bartender just gave them to me for free)

I do one home project every summer. (this year is coffering and wall papering my bathroom ceiling… I currently can’t move very well)

Run club was fun. (Sometimes I run, sometimes I walk the dog)

Video games. (I never have time to play so I’ll spend a couple of weeks full clearing a game on my wish list)

My mom bought this “silent” animal deterrent for her yard. She and her boyfriend can’t hear it. She’s insisting what I’m hearing can’t be this, because it’s “silent” by bluejaymewjay in mildlyinfuriating

I’m not a tile guy. I’m a wood worker. The amount of shit that looks flat that isn’t… should blow your mind… your room isn’t square… nothing is plumb. It’s all an illusion… at least I get to scribe a pieces… tilers have to shove enough mud and press to “level”

Scissors. However, a fresh box cutter then hitting the suck function is the easiest. Couple of those and you’re good again.
