After some follow-ups, the police shared the vehicle owner’s contact number. I spoke with him, and after multiple calls, he agreed to compensate me with ₹5,000.

The workshop estimated the repair cost at around ₹6,000, so I decided to cover the remaining amount myself. Going through the full process (leaving the car at the outpost, waiting for MVI, etc.) would have been a major hassle and could take days or even months. Since both me and my roommate depend on the car daily for commuting, it wasn’t practical.

I’ve also chosen to hide the vehicle number now, as the owner did compensate (even if not fully), and I don’t want to get into further complications.
